Sorry to read about your tinnitus - does it come on often, and go quickly?
I did initially wonder why Fir's shorter hair would cause you to have tinnitus, before my brain detached the two. I know that my own suddenly much shorter hair has caused me earache in the past when the wind can then whistle down the lug'ole
I don't really notice when its not there.
. Only when its particularly loud. I don't think I have ringing that often though. I hear other things in my ears , and sometimes nothing at all, but the ringing this afternoon is annoying. It will pass though

Hope it passes soon.
Spurred on by the imminent arrival of a visitor who does not need to be allowed upstairs or in the playroom, the three of us (with a little assistance from the girl next door when she dropped round) have tidied the conservatory, hall, kitchen, dining room and living room. We haven't really sorted much out - most of the piles of random stuff have just moved to other parts of the house, but I have at least completed filling the black rubbish sack that I started on earlier in the week. I've also removed all the random piles from the living room. They can go and look cluttered elsewhere in the house. Oh, and there are there are 3 large baskets of clean dry washing in the corner. We'll sort those according to who they belong to later, when the visitor's gone.
Now I need to source
1) pictures
2) rug for floor
3) candles to go in candle sticks on mantlepiece
4) new lampshade to replace the ancient one on the standard lamp, which has seen better days
5) light bulbs - only 4 of the 8 fittings currently have live ones in them
That'll have to wait, though. Our immediate priority will be to get upstairs ready for my dad to sleep over on Monday night and the cleaner to clean on Tuesday.
Edit: By the time the visitor was an hour late, I went to find my mobile to phone to ask what was up. There was a text from shortly before he was due to arrive, saying he's not well and not coming. :rotfl:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It is pretty likely this one from screwfix for 2.99 would fit

We have these on the vertical 'designer' rads either side of the bi-fold doors in our kitchen - £40 each for rad valves, what was I on at the time?!

I am quite surprised that you can mix and match the Drayson valve part with another thermostat part. You sound reasonably confident about that, though? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Blimey, I'm exhausted just reading what you've achieved today :T
Um, all I've really done is moved a lot of clutter from downstairs to upstairs, and done a bit of vacuuming.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I'm not sure an NP should use that smiley when someone is not well...I am quite surprised that you can mix and match the Drayson valve part with another thermostat part. You sound reasonably confident about that, though?
Reasonably, I suspect they mostly have the same thread and clearance...not certain though....Edit: I could probably try swapping a few round in the house as we have probably a dozen different types but I can't be bothered...I think....0 -

A quick google suggests that the TRV2 is a very old valve with an imperial thread. I may have got that wrong, though.
PN only needs to buy a replacement head, not the complete valve, of course. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

That might be all you've done, but I think the impact of it is greater than the sum of its parts?
Well done to you and your DKs. I also like your list of what you want to get - I'm sensing a change in you...

Well, the MSE filter on your PC clearly wasn't working that day was it!
Re Screwfix - in my world, I like to replace exact match with exact match - else I get the heeby jeebies wondering if it'll fit or if I've been done up like a kipper. Of course, you can never find exact match as the s0ddin' manufacturers do like to faff around with things.
There's one I saw in google.shopping that looked JUST like mine EXCEPT it had one top triangle image in RED. That was enough to spook me as both my triangle images are black.
The spec on mine reads like something the moon landings needed. Your £2.99 screwfix solution doesn't mention moon landing criteria.0 -
Hey up all!
Sorry not been around much. Mega amount of stuff on at the mo, hence the inactivity. Hoping things will settle over the next month, but had some negative news this morning which ain't going to help things.
I'm still cycling, still trying to sort the house out, still snowed under at work, and am looking forward to several gigs in November!
Hoping everyone is well.
This month, I am doing a little charidee business. Details have been posted elsewhere, IYKWIM...
What have you all been up to?
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
