So fir called pharmacist...
' oh, weren't they delivered?'
'No'
' its made up , its here then'
So we have to go out and will pick up as we pass . Pharmacist helpfully pointed out I will be taking first dose very late in deed. You have to laugh! She did say she would have delivered but I'd rather we pick it up as we can today.
No news on the replacement replacement drug. My guess is people reliant on the drug it replaces have more active gps / nueros have swapped onto it already and that's probably why there is a shortage. My fault.0 -

Ssshhh though. I am operating under the radar here.0 -
The market is moving away from that model but fund managers are desperately trying to stop that money moving into low cost passive funds.
You can invest in my Aussie Core Equity fund for 1% or you can invest in the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF for .07%. 3 questions:
1. Which has better net returns
2. Which pays more commission
3. Which do you think a fund adviser will recommend?
Buy silver?0 -
I've had a similar problem for years in finance. It's a job that can't be done 9-5 and it's unpredictable when the late nights will be.
I'm also simply fed up with working in an industry where ripping off clients is the normal way to do business. Fund managers all know that they're highly unlikely to outperform the market for extended periods and that their clients will lose after fees vs index fundsyet mmaintain the lie year after year.
Had enough of it.
So glad you have a plan to get out now.
I didn't realise fund managers knew it was a lie. I always thought they believed it themselves. Interesting.
Teaching can't be done 9-5 either. It doesn't get as crazy as 18-20 hour days, but full timers do work most evenings and weekends. Even I work quite a few evenings and weekends, and I'm only on 55% FTE this year. But at least the extra busy times are reasonably predictable (reports, exams etc) and you get school holidays (although not the kind of pay that fund managers get).Ahem.
Says the lady who was posting at nearly 3 a.m.?
I hope you're going to catch up on sleep this morning or at least some other point this weekend.
Yes, the alarm didn't go off until 10am. Last night was halloween. In our family we don't go trick or treating, but we always have a special night in on halloween - lots of DVDs and lots of junk food, all 3 of us propped up on lots of pillows on my bed. Last night they chose to watch the entire "Back to the future" trilogy, followed by "Maleficent". We're all having a lie in this morning. DS got up early, as always, but not quite as early as usual, so that counts as a lie in for him. I got up about 10ish and dragged DD out of bed around 11ish.I would add to this business of short sleeping hours that Maggie Thatcher used to claim she only slept four hours a night. Short sleeping hours are associated with Alzheimer's which she eventually got.
Seems like continuous sleep is one of the few things that can clear amyloid from the brain. You can also avoid Alzheimer's by being short-lived but that's shall we say a less desirable option. There's not much else can cut the risk, apart from certain bad habits that'll shorten your life.
I didn't know that. Of all the health risks associated with short sleeping hours, that is the one that might actually scare me into changing my habits.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
If I can get Hamish to buy a mug I'll be on here 24/7.
It would be lovely to see you on here at least a bit, if you can't manage the 24/7. :hello:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Well, I have zipped up my documents as they are and sent them off in an email. It is not the email I was hoping to send, but it's not worth worrying about that now. I will send another email first thing on Monday.
No victory dances here. But I did bite the bullet and send an email.
Well done. It may not be what you'd 100% happy with, but it' real progress nevertheless. It's another total fire ban day today. No solid fuel fires to be lit including bbqs. No using power tools that create sparks. No smoking in bush areas. You can use a gas bbq but you have to stay with it at all times and have a way to put out a fire if you start one.
It's going to be 34C with lightning including dry strikes and 90kph winds. There's a big fire burning in the mountains just outside a fair sized town called Katoomba. Google the 3 Sisters: it's the iconic view in the Blue Mountains.
Do people tend to abide by the rules? I fully understand the reasons for them and the serious consequences of things going wrong, but I strongly suspect that over here society is so individualistic that some people would refuse to comply as a matter of principle.0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »I've never mentioned it before, but one of my radiators has the knob broken off. The twisty knob where you set the temperature. I'm assuming it's still safe to use and I'll just not know what temperature it's set to, nor be able to change it. For me, it's the kitchen one, so I'd prefer to have to only set to the frost-free option as I don't heat kitchens (no point heating a room if you'll just be in there for 20 minutes/day to make a few coffees, microwave a spud and make some toast, so it'd be annoying if it were stuck/broken off on full blast.
It's not something one can call out a plumber to fix, not worth the cost, which I assume would be a lot.
You mean the plastic knob right? if the metal has a rectangle pin bit of metal at the top sticking out you can use pliers to turn it.
The guy in this video is messing with it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyCBMz6U6ZUWhen using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -

The way that they deal with it is to claim that what is really important is returns before fees rather than after them. Even by that measure, half of investors are losing money vs the average. I think they believe that the half losing money are individual amateurs investing their own money because obvs the world is full of them:rotfl::rotfl:0
