Hmm - I might often type .com when guessing a website rather than .co.uk. Plus what happens if the dot com holder decides they want to ramp up their AU business?
With school holidays the how routine is mucked up. This resulted in me missing my train by 15s so waiting 20 minutes. then the train managed to lose 10 mins on the journey. Then I managed to fail to spot my tube stop until the doors closed so I had to go on to the next one and come back (not sure what that was about, I have a new book that I am not really into yet - perhaps it is taking extra concentration cos I am not really enjoying it?) then got to work and found I had forgotten my building pass...got to my desk and found my intuition that I needed to be ontime today was correct and that I had therefore missed a meeting......
I am also trying to make progress with a mindfulness book. I know some on here rate this but I am struggling with the concepts in the first chapter
I definitely wasn't 'living in the moment' this morning I think....0 -
Whew. Caught up.

Feeling pleased with the NHS today.
Phoned the GP this morning. DD has earache. Felt anxious about probable availability of appointments or lack thereof.
Receptionist said no appointments until Wed but if she was in pain she could get the triage doc to phone me. I said yes please.
Triage doc phoned within 10min. I said DD (who has a cold and bunged up nose but normal temp) complaining of pain but clearly not in agony. Explained "I haven't got an auriscope so can't tell if it's infected or just congested". Triage doc laughed and said to bring her in.
Took her in. Sat in waiting room for 10 min or so and then seen by doc. Eardrum inflamed and infected. Doc friendly and approachable and had good manner with DD - explaining what she was doing in age-appropriate way without being patronising. Amoxycillin prescribed - DD was asked if she could swallow capsules and gave a big smile when she said yes and the doc said "Good woman!" in a tone of being impressed. Then off we went to the pharmacy.
All done in plenty of time for DD to get treatment before she gets to the agonising pain stage, and for us to be able to do stuff with extended family planned for 5pm onwards this eve.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

thank lady GDB for remembering me. i would like to know more.In the light of this, I am not sure that I should mention this, but DW has found a UCL research project that you might like to participate in, because she thinks it might possibly benefit you. One snag is that it's at Queen Square, which is presumably a major problem to get to, unless you are travelling to London for something else. If you would be interested in more details, please let me know.
To help her get around in the house, mother in law was given a metal tea trolley thingy that worked okay for her. It gave her some support as well as allowing her to move stuff around. I'll try to find a picture if you are interested.
Sorry that you are being inundated with mostly silly suggestions. It's because everybody is fond of you and wants to help.
the access issue may be dependent on the number and frequency of attendences over what time. I am also interested in tea trolley gadgets . today I had to eat lunch in the kitchen as i could not carry it through to slob about in 'my' armchair. I have been trying to avoid the paraphenalia of disability but I am not going to be stupid and make life harder.
A carer came in this morning , that went well. oh brought me up brekkie in bed along with the horrid tablets, i showered and got a few bits of clothes on but then rested back in bed awaiting the 'carer',OH said he felt redundant.but he went off to work and the help arrived about 30 minutes later. our dog let this stranger in as if she was his best friend and she fell for his doggy charms and gave him fuss.I then did my physio exercises. can no longer stand on one leg, I could do this a week ago so my balance/leg muscles have gone a bit downhill in the fortnight where I had no extra input. grrr.
micheals complaints about half term are bringing home how the time has flown. on my admission to hosp the schools had not even gone back. that it is already another holiday is a 'tempus fugit' moment.0 -
Spirit, the other way to look at it is that in just half a term you have made quite impressive progress.0

Mother in law's trolley was like this one:
She got it free of charge from Social Services. We rang up, asked for the OT, and she came round and did an assessment. The result was various grab handles and this trolley.
It's available at Argos for £59.95. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8650043.htm
We may still have mother-in-law's one in her garage. I will have to check next time I go round.
I will PM you details of the research study. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I've just come across the world's fastest mobility scooter.

Just popped out for a quick cig
in front porch (door open of course) and spotted the old moon in the arms of the new. Which made me think of Spirit. So sent a few Vibes, and while at it to Gen too, and Sue.
Sue, if you are seriously going to apply for PIP (and I think you should) I suggest you subscribe to Benefits and Work to get access to their notes on how to fill the form in. I only ever got DLA for 2 years at a time until I used the B&W notes, when I got Indefinite... Of course there's no such thing as that now, so am expecting to be called in though hopefully not before lateish 2015. But when they start re-assessing I'll be one of the first as was 64 at the cut off date, and they've said they're doing us who are now over 65 in first lot to be re-assessed. Anyway, if you can't get face to face help to fill in the form I recommend B&W - it's around £20 for a year's sub, but if you join their mailing list you'll find when they have special offers. Good Luck!
Edit: this was about 2 hours ago, MSE forums were down when I tried to post initially.0 -

Be illegal in UK - either 4 or 8 mph.
But it was fun to watch! :rotfl:0 -
I couldn't get back on. I kept trying/waiting using Chrome, but it wasn't ever loading. So I've swapped back to Firefox now.ukmaggie45 wrote: »

Edit: Then that stopped working, here on Chrome now, but it's very slow...0
