are you ineligible?
I have just had an assessment (this morning ) from an adult services assessor who has told me that from tomorrow morning i will have 6 weeks of someone coming in every morning to help me with dressing and putting my 'aids on'. If I need a service after 6 weeks I will have to pay towards it, but I should hope I will be ok by then. she has also said that once I have past the 3 month mark I should apply for PIP, others had said similar but I cannot believe I would be eligible. apparently this is key if my mobility continues to be a problem as I would then get assistance to adapt my car or an allowance to enable transport.I am hoping none of this is needed, but would have thought that if I am encouraged to apply that you Sue and LIR would be eligible.
recent falls have made me rethink what I will do when both oh and dd are away in November.my sister is coimng to stay. I am not safe to be alone 24/7 as I am now walking round the furniture and not carrying things in my right hand as i use it to steady myself.
I meet the descriptors for enhanced mobility on PIP and possibly standard care but until recently, pride, fear of rejection and a myriad of other silly emotions plus financially, the extra cash is not needed for my disability (apart from maybe a swankier wheelchair rather than my ancient second hand one) prevented me applying.
I've now bitten the bullet and put a claim in because I want a blue badge and access to disabled areas at concerts etc and if I have to go for an assessment, it may as well be for PIP. If I don't get it, I don't get it....I'll just have to do the blue badge application instead. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
The firework season is well under way around here with Divali. Fortunately, the little mongrel from Battersea takes no notice of the fireworks at all. I'm starting to feel quite proud of her.
Doglet's main drawback is that she smells rather doggy. I can't make my mind up whether to throw her in the bath with some baby shampoo or pay the local pet parlour £25 to shampoo her? The pet parlour will also cut her nails and clean her ears and teeth, which I have never done. Any suggestions?
Aldi had dog shampoo last week. Can't remember price, but think it was less than £1 per bottle. Even if you don't have an Aldi nearby it's not an expensive buy from a local pet shop.
You'll know what dog's reaction is going to be just from lifting her in the bath, if she really hates it, she'll be making it clear she wants to get out before you even turn the shower on. That in turn should be pleasantly warm but not hot. I've had dogs that absolutely hated it, dogs that were indifferent, but only one that liked it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Shampoo isn't very much different from washing up liquid, diluted suitably. Just sayin' :cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

In some ways yes, in other ways no. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't be washing my hair with washing up liquid. Or washing my dishes with shampoo.
GDB, I'd treat Doglet to the spa session. Then she will also come back with clean ears and teeth

I'm not a dog fan, nor one for wasting money on fripperies ... but I do believe that doglet deserves a spa session for £25. It could be doglet's special little early Xmas present.
Doglet will then have a nice, shiny grin to give you every day and be able to hear when you say WALKIES!!0 -

I think spending £25 on not having to try to wash a dog and brush it's teeth sounds like an early Xmas present for GDB too

Good luck with all that process, hopefully you'll be approved straight off.I meet the descriptors for enhanced mobility on PIP and possibly standard care but until recently, pride, fear of rejection and a myriad of other silly emotions plus financially, the extra cash is not needed for my disability (apart from maybe a swankier wheelchair rather than my ancient second hand one) prevented me applying.

Not baby shampoo.
If you do it your self buy proper shampoo, it will make a diffence. The best for odour are ones designed for dogs that roll in dog poop.
Dog dog is a BO kind a gal too, hence some experience here.
. Your girl probably doesn't need toes trimmed, as she does page ment walking with you....but ears and teeth are worth it. Is weekly teeth brushing something you would consider doing? There are pastes you can buy that claim to do some plaque attack with no brushing I don't know if they work.....
Ears are easy, and easy to over clean IMO, ( I got trapped in that cycle with the cats once) are her ears dirty? Smelly?
I don't think twent five pounds is expensive, and dog shampoo can be dear ( good thing to buy at tk Maxx fwiw) but the bottles go a long way.
You could take you dog to fc's friend.0 -
You can tell it is half term, bath runs in half the time...I think....0

Says the man who probably hasn't washed lots of different types of animal hair or curly locks.
Otoh I have put vanish in horses tails with success. But the right products really can make a difference. I have different shampoos for the different dogs here....dog dog can use any thing, but she is prone to smelling a little. Big dog gets flakey skin, and kiwi benefits from something than helps ease out his tangles.
