Did you say your work contract has been extended by 3 months? Are they having second thoughts?

No, they're having an attack of moral decency. Australian recruitment basically closes from Melbourne Cup day (1st Tuesday in November) until Australia Day (26th January). You don't give someone the boot at that time of year unless you really hate them.

    I'm traumatised

I always check DDs hair for nits. After last week's marathon head combing eggs that I'd found out of her hair, I've gone to re-treat today and her head is full of lice of varying sizes. I feel sick. I must have caught it a bit early last week, I don't know, but this a totally different experience.

Misery. I treated myself yesterday again but I can't comb my own hair through. I feel horrible :(

The Girl has nits yet again so Mrs Generali has had the comb, brush and hair conditioner out. She doesn't use that horrid shampoo; hair conditioner means they find it harder to grip the hair and the comb removes the beggurs.

I think we're going to have to get the worming chocolate out for the family again too as The Boy is scratching his &r5e constantly.

    Bloody kids. Infection hotbeds.

Umm we have never had nits or worms and I intend to keep it that way.

Want to write more on Gen's venture when I have time but suffice to say now, don't let the contract extension prevent you from doing what you want to.
    I think....

There's lots of wildlife in Aus and that includes parasites I guess. I've had worms a few times since moving here but I never had them in the UK.

The extension makes things about perfect TBH. It means I can pay off the debt incurred from Mrs Generali's study and my sickness, keep my CV in decent shape in case it all goes wrong and I need to get a **shudders** job again and it means that I can rent a house with a good kitchen because I'm an upstanding type with a job with a finance company rather than a self employed loser.

Pripsen. Ugh. Still remember the name 30 years on and its foul taste that made me want to retch. _pale_

Worms were really not my favourite 'illness' to acquire.

I also remember the shampoo for nits. Made your eyes water just from the fumes :o and the metal comb was so painful when you had long hair.

I flew both ways alone with a 3 & 5 y/o and it was fine. They had unfettered access to TV which was great as far as they were concerned. The Girl couldn't operate the remote and was sitting next to a Random Old Lady. Each time Mickey Mouse Clubhouse finished The Girl'd nudge ROL who would reset the program for her. The Girl must have watched that same program 30 times on the flight.

As for European holidays, we used to take the Eurostar and rent a car and a gite at the other end.

on a flight to LA once oh was in the end seatof the centre aisle the two middle seats occupied by two small children of mixed race and their mother of black ethnic origin at the other end of the row.

throughout the journey the mother slept and the cabin crew assumed OH was the childrens dad. he attended to all entertainment, meal and drink choices, he declined to take the smallest child to the toilet at which point the mum was woken.

    european hols with littlies.

car, ferry, gite and then when they are bit bigger car, ferry and eurocamp mobile home.

in our experience even quite formal restaurants in french hotels were kind to us when the infant miss Spirit projectile vomited all over the table.

mixed day in that i went out with dd to the farm shop and we had sausage sandwiches for brekkie in their cafe. got home and i emptied the dishwasher and put the hoover around downstairs. all good so far. one of my team came in to visit, and we sat in our kitchen sitting room whist dd was making soup and cottage pies for the freezer.

i went to walk across the kitchen and my left leg gaveway. my second fall in three days. my leg feels as if it is weaker or may be it is just a consequence of it not being up to doing as much as I want to do. this fall was like slow motion but dd and friend could not save me and obviously i could not put my arm down to break my fall. I was flat on my back but after laying for two minutes to recover I got myself up. before discharge from hosp I was taught how to get up from a fall indoors. DD has gone out to do the horse and oh is not back from shooting I have been instructed by DD not to get out of the chair until her dad is home. I think falling is worrying her more than me.

in other news our level access shower is finished and looks good. I thought it might looked 'patched in', but it looks as if it has always been there.

Oh Spirit, so sorry to hear of your fall. :( 2 falls in 3 days sounds a lot. I wonder if there's something you could use to help? Would a brace for your leg help if it's just giving way on you? Prob best to ask your physio when you next see her/him. There must be something that can help at least in the short term? Hugs. :)

Very glad you are happy with your new shower! Sounds like the installer has done a brilliant job. :j

Sorry to hear about your fall. It must be so frustrating and I can understand your DD being worried - it will clearly take her time to adjust to your recovery too.

One small thing to take from it though, is that you did manage to put into practice the skills to get back up - take credit for yourself from that.

Glad to hear the shower looks good.
