We took the hearing guy guy to court after hounding him down daily.......hardly failed to be assertive!
Medical situation is harder. Because my situation is so complicated its hard for any GP. Maybe its best Ihave a GP whose reaction yesterday was 'yeah whatever' and who I accept I have to hound for referrals etc. because for a new GP to get head round situation is a big deal. Maybe I consider this one broken in and just be more proactive.
I think what's hard to get across is just how over loaded we sometimes are, and how the time constraints and inability to beat out decisions because there isn't time over a weekend or I'm too tired and he's too busy really impacts. I find this incredibly frustrating because it makes decisions take very much longer and circular.
We spend far too much time these days fighting fires, because we haven't been able to adequately prepare as a team.
I would cite things like the car as perfect example of this. Not able to find time to go and look at other cars together. A lot of the time I feel even 'handicapped' as I am would be more efficient making solo decisions over somethings, but its a decision we stand by, that we feel big decisions should be taken together, for relationship unity.
We just need for me to have more energy and for more hours in a day, or more days in a weekend or something.0 -
Ah yes, I meant to say that the food will be frozen.
This is very exciting, congratulations on having decided on a pTh!
I'd be curious to know, for no reason, just interest, how things like kitchen inspections for food prep for business in Oz compare to here. Not having pets now is a help in this regard for you if its similar.
Pfft to my dressing needs then? Phooey.:rotfl:0 -
I will add my own "medical staff getting drugs wrong" little anecdote. When DS was in hospital a few years ago having the metalwork taken back out of his arm, we told them he's allergic to paracetamol. They gave him a red wrist band to indicate that he had some restrictions on what he could have, and labelled it accordingly. Not once did I see a member of staff bother to look at it. As the morphine was wearing off, one after another after another of them attempted to give him paracetamol, and he and I had to keep stopping them and explaining that he couldn't have it, and please would they get him some ibuprofen instead.
I've had that with paracetamol too, for some reason, the staff find it difficult to understand someone who could be allergic to the stuff.
I'm allergic to penicillin as well as paracetamol, at the beginning of the year when I had an abscess, the doctor at the hospital prescribed a penicillin based antibiotic, I didn't realise straight away (felt absolutely horrible and just took what was offered), had a reaction, thankfully a mild one and then there was a great hullabaloo when the doctor realised what had happened.
Basically what had happened was that the doctor on call at our cottage hospital had not read ANY notes whatsoever, she was a locum brought in to cover the post Christmas rush and I had thought she would read the notes which stated in big red letters at the top that I was allergic to penicillin....it was only a one sheet piece of paper notes, not a whole file!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Conrats Gen!
Sue - The cheap paracetamol from the local shop I have find I'm worse than at the start with, but Tescos own I seem to be fine.💙💛 💔0 -

It's much the same really.
The only real difference is that Aussies tend to go for a box ticking approach whereas Britain tends to be a bit more risk based.0 -

My news today - I am now the proud owner of an additional bannister/handrail on the stairs plus two grab rails by the back door. He couldn't do my halfstep or the rails outside the front door as it needed several hours to dry in dry weather and it was about to pee it down.
Excellent news Sue - i hope it will stay dry long enough for the outside work to be done asap :T
Oh and Maggie - :rotfl: re cheeses!
Gen That sounds a great idea! Hope it really takes off :beer:0 -
All's well in Aus thanks. Very well actually.
Gorgeous day. 31C and sunny. I went for a stroll in the Botanic Gardens which is always fun.
Gen, I have just fallen in love with a song about the seedier side of Sydney on New Years Eve written by Perry Keyes performed by Missy Higgins. A great song. Christmas No.1 (if they think to release it) Anyway my ringtone is sorted for 31/12/14.

The original is great as well, not quite so upbeat.

Gosh...absolutely...everyone welcome. You never know, we could get a stalker as well ...OH would love that. ''and who are you?''
''Oh I am a stalker who hangs out on a chat board of 17 people'' and he would probably invite them in with a smile.
Nice to know I would be welcome, fc! Alas, there's a particularly nasty deadline looming up around that time.
(To recap in brief: yes to funghi, greater herts, no romantic or professional involvement with science/scientists, not Jewish, owns house, wishes Gen best of luck with new venture, hopes LIR better soon, appreciates nice baby photo updates, lurks on NPT as work-avoidance wrt deadline mentioned above, possessed cat is doing fine thanks though still cross on occasion.)0 -

Thanks blin. I too love a good mushroom or 10.
If you're feeling decadent, stuff cabbage leaves with chopped mushrooms, including some ceps and a black truffle. Close them with cocktail sticks and steam.
Nom, nom, nom. Really good with beef.0 -

That's interesting. I'm relieved that you find it hard going to run a farm, run a business at the farm, renovate a dilapidated house, and have FIR do his very demanding professional work, all at the same time. It's an enormous workload for people in the very best of health.
We are very bad at joint decision making. We have ended up with pink sofas that neither of us like, because we were trying to please the other. It may be better to leave it up to one of you to make a particular decision. So, I think your idea of solo decisions makes sense. That's what we tend to do more now.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
