. I paid for the carpark whilst on holiday, a train home from Manchester , oh a taxi home from the airport and they have refused to refund anything.

You probably need to tell us the back story, because at the moment I'm struggling to see what relevance those things have to a car breakdown.
  • Sorry there was a previous thread I posted but can't copy link.

Basically I purchased a 4 year old colt and 2 days later it broke down lol - burnt clutch and flywheel damage.

Why did you pay for a car park whilst on holiday if the garage had your car?

It would be highly unusual for a garage to cover your holiday expenses. Their job is to fix your car, not to fund extravagance.
  • Im sorry did you read my other thread?

The car was picked up on the Friday - I drove to Manchester to go to the airport and the car broke down before I flew. I had paid for 8 days parking but couldn't use it as the car was in a garage!

So - lemme get this straight...

You bought a used car, the clutch died whilst on your way to the airport, the garage provided you with a hire car on your return, and repaired your car for free. Right?

You would have paid the parking if you had the car. So have not really lost on that front.

A goodwill repair = they think you broke it but are willing to give you the benefit of the doubt or hope you return a happy customer.

Cars breakdown. Get breakdown cover and move on.

  • Hiya,

Not as straight forward as that. The car broke down after 48hrs of ownership, the selling dealership refused to pay for any repairs and the warranty company that Mitsubishi use rejected the claim as it wasn't sudden mechanical failure. This is the short version of events over 2 week period. In the interim I went on holiday for a week. The car at this point was stripped down in the garage awaiting a mechanical report.

On return I had a hard time trying to get someone to pay for the repairs - did at this point reject the car and start the refund process.

During this time, I had to pay costs to get home from the airport, onward travel to home address and of course lost the money I paid for airport parking. My breakdown cover only covered me for 5 days which I used to get back n forth to work.

Sorry for sounding vague! Hope this information clarifies things.
    Regards Sarah

No you didn't. That is not a cost anyone but you should pick up. Certainly not a garage that provided you with alternative parking for free. Your car had to be parked somewhere.
  • Did this trouble disrupt your holiday? Were you moping by the pool, unable to take advantage of the all-inclusive buffet?

Surely you can claim some luncheon vouchers as recompense?
