Two more members join us. Wonder if we will reach the magic 100.
    been a busy week.
Spent yesterday morning taking some rubbish to the tip for my F-in-L, then in the afternoon, had to go and do a spot of emergency drain un-blocking for my own dad.

No luck yet on the job front, but have had 1 rejection post interview.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi all
Well it's nearly the end of Jan already and have spent most of the last week looking at finances and budgets and have decided I need to add 2 more savings funds for the year to the 2 I already have - A Christmas 2015 fund and a Debt fund, so that's more reading to do and inspiration to find.
Just added £20.00 to my Emergency fund, so slowly, slowly but fingers crossed no emergencies so far
    xx

what do you mean about more reading to do? As in to find the best fund that sort of reading?

    Hi Patman,

I think it is really important to research this option thoroughly before you go into it. My brother did lots of research before he went into his - Dial a dogwash and he is doing great. He says the secret is strong support from the master franchiser and make sure you talk to loads of other franchisees before you make a decision. It can be a lot of money with a lot of effort for very little return.....
    Be careful - please...

Thanks for setting this thread up. I am making an effort to transfer money to the £1,000 emergency fund but it is SLOW because I am over stretching myself with savings. Dave Ramsey would not be happy with me as I am NOT really following his ways although I do love listening to him.

Anyone I will leave you in peace. Have fun. TTFN XX

I mean I need to read through other threads and find the ones that fit my needs - read 'Pay a debt or reach a goal in 2015 challenge?' sounds perfect for me.
Looking for the Christmas one next

There's plenty of inspiration to be gained from various threads on MSE forums, I-need-to-be-debtfree. Good Luck:beer:

I keep seeing references to Dave Ramsey on this thread, in fact I think patman first set up the challenge after hearing something Dave Ramsey said.

I'm probably the only one on here who had never heard of Dave Ramsey before:o. Could some kind person please let me know where I can find him? I assume he's on some radio channel.

    Thanks.

I've only heard of him via this forum, so you are not alone cbc, although when I read your post, I had a little look for him, just out of curiosity and found this http://www.daveramsey.com/home/?snid=home

I too may have a look, as he is obviously well respected by fellow MSErs

    Excellent advice from Mags :)

My dad had a franchise for many years - he worked bloomin hard but enjoyed it and it paid the bills

He was in it pretty early and got on really well with the guy who's started the original business & a few others. It was a small group & they gelled well together

Years later the original guy retired & sold the franchise to a group - it became, 'you must do this', 'you can't do that' etc which ruined it. Thankfully my dad was ready to retire too but I think he'd have hated having to do it under those sorts of rules
