Carbootcrazy, sorry about your mouse problem, hope you can deal with it quickly before it gets out of hand. What a pain that some of your food may/will have to be thrown away. A handy tip. Mice like chocolate, so load the traps with chocolate spread and they will soon circum to the power of the trap.Never Knowingly Understood.

Oh no to the mouse - pesky little blighters.
I don't mind them outside but NOT in the house!
I live rurally so they're a constant battle here - luckily one of my cats is a prolific mouser!
Re storage containers - I know you'll need a few for bits just now, but save any tubs like tubs the chocs come in at Christmas (there's a few still in our recycling bins at work so might be worth a look if you have any!)
I use things like glass coffee or sweetener jars for storing sugar, tea bags, pasta, cornflour, bisto, stock cubes and rice etc etc in
They can be a bit higglety-pigglety at the start but as you use things up, you can get rid of the odd sized ones and keep the larger ones that match!!

Pay day :j I don't know why I get excited about it, it goes in & gets transferred to my bills account, I feed my budgeting pots and then there's very (very!) little left
I've transferred £25 to my EF account - I have this incl in my SOA - and I always used to do this so really must get back into the habit!
I do have £300 in an ISA which I'm not sure whether to count as EF or not  - I started saving for a new boiler a couple of years ago and that was as far as I got! I tend to put it far to the back of my mind as it's separate from the rest of my accounts = hard for me to get at!:rotfl:

I would count it in your EF, after all if your boiler breaks, it would be your EF that jumps in for a replacement or repairs! Aaaand that would put you 30% of the way there in one fell swoop!January2015 wrote: »Hi

A big thank you to all of you who gave advice on the mouse-catching/prevention problem:T
Bought 2 mousetraps (humane variety) yesterday and the lady in the shop advised baiting with chocolate too. Did just that and have already caught one mouse:j. I hate the little blighters in the house but am too much of a wimp to want to kill them so have released it right down the bottom of the very long garden. Will probably freeze to death:eek: or the cat will catch it and bring it home again. Next door neighbours have a barn and horses just the other side of our hedge, always plenty of spilt grain etc for it to eat. Have rebaited trap and will leave both in place in case it had any companions.0 -
Hi all
Well it's nearly the end of Jan already and have spent most of the last week looking at finances and budgets and have decided I need to add 2 more savings funds for the year to the 2 I already have - A Christmas 2015 fund and a Debt fund, so that's more reading to do and inspiration to find.
Just added £20.00 to my Emergency fund, so slowly, slowly but fingers crossed no emergencies so far
