No, my username is not a typo
  • It looks as if car troubles are the biggest bugbears (and expenses:eek:) of a lot of us.

The reason I'm panicking is that being on a DMP I have a basic bank account with no overdraft and no credit cards any more to fall back on. This has been such a shock to the system and it's only just started, I won't be debt free until 2019 but I doubt I'll ever be accepted for credit cards even then with my history of bad management:o. I have no savings (had to raid them just to cover debts before I went on a DMP) and every penny I have coming in is pretty much spoken for before I even get it. But the car is a necessity to me and I didn't sleep a wink last night through worry. Am going to visit all the car body shops within a 20 mile radius of home first thing tomorrow to see how cheaply I can get the work done. Not looking forward to that experience one bit:(
  • Fingers crossed you'll find someone who can do it quite cheaply. Cars always seem to have a habit of going wrong at the worst possible time...me and hubby have had some right old problems with ours in the past. A necessary evil and they drive me mad

I think I do, On my way. The damage is worse than I initially thought, especially the rear door.

I frequently transport very elderly and infirm relatives to numerous hospital appointments and other things(together with loads of their 'stuff') and need access to both back seats and both rear doors able to open/close. The nearside one is very buckled and really ought to stay jammed closed. I've managed to open it with a lot of brute force but had the greatest difficulty getting it firmly shut again and lockable. Several kicks with my full force being needed and I can't be doing that with old and ill folk inside:eek:. The cosmetic stuff can wait (as you implied) maybe never bother having it done as it doesn't worry me but safety and security is essential in my current situation. Plus, the scratches/gouges are very deep and down to bare metal and I worry about the bodywork rusting as the car is kept outside day and night. I'm not having a full make-over, just the bare minimum to make sure I can carry on using it as I do now.
