Carbootcrazy, you must have a strange make of car if you cannot get a door from a scrappy for it.

    You misunderstood me, patman:)

I'm sure I can get one for mine eventually it's just that OH has had no luck with the 'local' scrapyards. They are only small ones, this is a rural area, he hasn't tried any big ones further afield or online yet. That's his job for today! That online one you mention sounds like a good bet. Mine is a very standard car, should have no probs getting one.

It was his car that he couldn't get a part from a scrapyard for as it is a very recent model and no one had scrapped/broken any so far. Believe me, he tried. He could get new parts easily but he didn't want to pay so much. In the end he had to:eek:
  • Hey my lovelies,

Cars!!! They are costing us quite a few pennies this month eh.

Mine cost £180.00 for the window to be fixed - grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I get paid tomorrow so will figure out how much I can put into my emergency fund its awfully small with only £10.00 in there so far.

  • oh my gosh my nan's car's clutch has gone wrong today! Talk about a run! Pay day from my second job tomorrow so I'll be putting most of that towards that as she gets my lad from school when I'm doing funny hours.. I'm going to try and put 10% over to savings first though :)

I expect I should know but I'm afraid I don't:o so could you explain what these Tilly Tidies are please? I've seen the term several times on various threads and they sound lucrative so might give them a try myself if possible.
  • Hi CarBootCrazy, I started moving all the pennies in my online bank accounts to a savings pot ready for mortgage overpayments. It sort of grew from there and people use them to OP credit cards, or build up savings, or OP mortgages.

It may only be small but each penny really helps and by the end of a month it's normally a few £.

    Best wishes Tilly
