  • May I join? I became debt free this month and think this would be another good move in my forward planning for next year.

OH still has debts but it would be lovely to have a proper emergency fund for other expenses.

    Thank you

  • Haven't started putting anything in my 'fund' yet. Money is a bit up in the air at the moment, with Christmas around the corner and lots of direct debits and outgoings due out during December.

If not during Dec, the savings for this challenge will begin January when things are more settled financially. Well done to all who have begun their challenges!

  • Hoipolloi, I'm not sure it matters when people start or how long it takes, as long as you are putting something away towards it.

I feel like I cheated a bit as I had about £300 left over from my maternity leave savings pot and have made that my emergency fund now. Otherwise, my deposits are in dribs and drabs, underspend on other monthly budgets and account sweeps etc :)

Stiltoncheese, I don't think it matters how you have found the money as long as it is in the right place, and being saved for genuine emergencies and not otherwise spent.

I feel as though I may also have cheated this week... I have combined 'car fund' and 'emergency fund' this weekend and have boosted my total by quite a lot. It won't grow that quickly for a long while now though!
