It's Alison Holt http://www.alisonholt.com/. I'm going to the Wirral for it, it's where DH comes from so I'll be staying with his sister.
  • Oooooohh Snoozer you lucky thing! I had looked at one of her courses last year and was so tempted ... but I couldn't justify the cost and three days when just an hours worth of free motion quilting made me feel like throwing the machine through the window. Enjoy!!!! I may follow in your footsteps after a bit more practice. I am very envious!

Will do my best Miffy ... busy weekend with family this weekend and am yet to get any of my projects back on the go. Still, its my little sewing group on Saturday so that should give me a bit of momentum.
  • Very good 'meet the groups' session this morning. Lots of people around. I filled the class and have a waiting list of 4, so going well.

Well done Csarina! I did try to find a quilting/patchwork class or club close to me and see if that would get me moving again but although there are some within 30 miles most are during the day ... when I'm at work. Ah well!
  • Monday morning again! where did the weekend go?

Although I had a fab weekend socialising I had done by 4 pm yesterday and found time to do a bit more. Two more blocks constructed for my own quilt and some scraps sorted that I can get smaller sections out of for it. I had forgotten just how calming it is to cut out and play with colour combinations. I know I will be the only one that likes this quilt - far too busy and fussy but it is just me pleasing myself so it doesn't really matter.

Another appliqu! project out of its bag and started too. This one shouldn't take too long and gives me something else to do when I get bored. :)

I hope everyone had a good weekend and stayed warm and safe.

Afternoon Everyone, I am a quilting wannabe! But with two small children and a DH that works unpredictable shift work it's not going to happen anytime soon :o

I've been working on a quilted advent calendar on and off for 2 years, perhaps this year DD will get it for in time for advent. He top is done and I've sandwiched it. I'm SITD round all the 24 pockets and then I'm thinking about some FMQ in the sashing around them. Then I have to tackle the binding. All in all, not so much to do then :rotfl:

I've made a couple of self binding receiving blankets for friends that have had new babies which were fun to make. Although on one I made an almighty mistake when sewing and cutting the corners that what should have been an hours work to finish the blanket took 2.5 hrs and ruined the look of the blanket (to me anyway).

I'm hoping to go to the Knitting & Stitching show in March and look at all the beautiful quilts and squander some of my hard saved monies on fabric and twiddly bits ;)

I love, love, love the jelly roll race quilt Miffy. I think I have a JR I ya stash and I might have to drag it out to make a quilt for DD. She has a cotbed sized quilt on her single bed which is from Forever England so a nice one but a handmade one by Mummy would be nicer:)

WelcomeIcey77 lovely to have you aboard. It is hard to find time when you have a busy family life. I'm hoping to go to The Knitting and Stitiching show in Olympia in March as my friend has had one of her quilts accepted for display. Sounds like you have been busy rosyq and patches. hope your classes are going well Deleted_User. I started quilting my Jelly Roll quilt yesterday as I want to be at the binding stage by Saturday so I can do it at my Quilting Club meeting. It is looking good and I am keeping this one for myself as I really love the fabric :j.
Happy Quilting all , stay in the warm and sew while this cold weather lasts . I'm off to order some freezer paper and calico from Em**ess M*lls as DD has decided she wants to make some bunting with film quotes on and apparently you can print fabric on your inkjet printer if you stiffen it with freezer paper. She also wants to learn how to use a sewing machine after all these years of trying to get her interested :T

  • Glad you're having a nice birthday Miffy, I hope the rest of the day goes as well! :)

Just a warning ... do not go with a friend to a new group as the craft they were doing looks interesting ... I now have a half made rag rug on the go and they are talking about candle making next month! Save me from myself!!!!

Oh dear patches more projects to work on:eek:
I thought I better post as we had been relegated to page 4. I am still quilting my jelly roll quilt, just straight lines but it is looking good. Hope everyone is busy. Happy Quilting all :)
