I hope the race went well Miffy. I've started cutting up a layer cake I've had for a while that I didn't know what to do with (that sentence is a bit clunky). It's in Christmas fabrics which seems a bit odd but I didn't have time to make it before because I was sewing a non-Christmassy present so I thought I'd do it now.

I've also finished a table runner. I didn't actually follow through on my previous plan - I made one square and then remembered I'd made a few 12" squares for a quilt and then decided I didn't love it enough to continue so I made them up into the runner instead, I'm really pleased with the effect. I have 2 more of those squares and may pair them with the new one to make a second runner.

  • It's beautiful miffy. As someone who plans everything to the nth degree, it would do me good just to 'let go' and see how it turns out. I expect I'd have palpitations when it's finished and I see two fabrics touching that "shouldn't even be close together" though!

I love the internet, as a newcomer to the “modern” world of quilting I had to look up “Jellyroll Race”
what fun, and all the results look amazing.
Years ago when the eldest of our Grandchildren were small I made them quilts, 100’s of little hexagons. Which now seems to be called English paper piecing? Fast-forward to 2008 and I made us a quilt with embroidered panels.
I have recently tried free machine quilting (the jury is still out on that one) Then a few days ago I found out about doing patchwork on a paper foundation and "Quilt on the go "and have been playing with that :)

And anakat I like your choice of colours above :)

Have lost my mojo a bit - please will someone give me a kick and remind me I'm happiest in my sewing room?

    Thanks!

I'm with you Rosy ... only been in there to do a quick repair and supervise OH using my machine to do a repair he brought home for me to do! (amusing and difficult not to take over at the same time!!). Everything is neat and tidy after a good sort out over Christmas but just can't get started ...
  • I have just finished the blocks for a play mat. My third GGchild is due next month. Have to sash it, put the borders on, quilt and bind it. Fingers crossed I get it done in time.

Everything for the U3A meet the groups is in the car. We need to be off early so I can get the table set up. Have quite a few things to show. OH will photograph the table when it's set up, will put the piccy on tomorrow when we get back.

I have to get everything sorted for the start of the new group 2 weeks tomorrow. Have 8 ladies signed up so far, will see if anymore sign up in the morning.

Was hoping to get a decent nights sleep, but the wind is blowing a hoodie and the rain battering on the bedroom window, hey ho, will have to lie on my good ear so I cannot hear it!!!

    Good luck today Csarina.

I've started the quilt but found I didn't have enough fabric in the layer cake, whoops, so I had to buy some more. I'm pleased with it though. I have a problem with the bobbin holder in my new machine, the thread keeps jumping out mid sew so I have had to do lots of unpicking. After googling I thought it was the tension setting but that seems ok. I've swapped it with the holder out of my old machine but I'll have to get it seen to.

I also got a list of needs for a course I'm going to on landscape machine embroidery, luckily I have most of them.
  • Very good 'meet the groups' session this morning. Lots of people around. I filled the class and have a waiting list of 4, so going well.

Its very black over Bills mothers, not sure if its snow or rain or a combination.

I have put the photographs of the stand on my blog, not sure how to put them on here, photobucket is not working for me this afternoon.

Rosyq and patches get back in those sewing rooms:rotfl:
Deleted_User well done on your class , it's so good to share your talent. Snoozer you have been busy, who is doing your landscape machine embroidery course, sounds fun. Hope you can get your machine sorted. I need to set my machine up again and put some borders on my jelly roll quilt. Trying to de clutter the house as we seem to have too much stuff !
    Happy Quilting all :)
