How often do you see your (adult) children when they're not living with you?

I live about 12 miles from my parents (had to check on google maps!) and I usually go about once a month on average, sometimes more sometimes less. I work shifts and so does one parent so it depends on when our weekends off line up and what's going on with other members of the family. They hardly ever come to see me unless they're in the city for another reason, but that's because their house is kind of the 'family gathering spot' for everybody to meet up so I don't mind that.

Why do you ask OP? Are you a parent or an adult child?

    One parent lives with us.

The other is moving closer ( not that far now ) but do not expect to see that much more. ATM see sporadically, so maybe weekly for a three weeks then not at all for few months. Weekly ( more or less ) phone call or email, less if overseas. Is brilliant at dog sitting for me, loves my pets and will gladly sleep over to spend time with dogs / cats and do other animals while here. Dogs and cats adore parent too.
  • They come home:
    When they are hungry.
When they want to raid the drinks cellar.
    When they need money.

    I go to them:
When they suggest lunch out would be great
    When they need stuff moving
When they need a big supermarket shop

  • My dad lives 5 miles away, see him about 3 times a week.

The in-laws live 13 miles away, DH sees them every couple of months or so. Hmmm...

  • We have five kids. The three who live away from home call round 4/5 times a week. More often than not they eat Sunday dinner here, and often steak and chips on a Saturday too! It may be food that draws them home. They do all live reasonably close though.

I live about 20 miles from my parents and we see them about once a week, sometimes less often. My husbands family are over 100 miles away and we see them a few times a year.
