In other news the police caught the driver of the range rover and i now have their insurance details. They are fully liable for the accident so i should recive quite a nice payout for my car :D

Any news on what charges the police will be pressing? Dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident must be in there somewhere!!

When i wrote this yesterday i was under the influence of co codamol. Taking 2 of them every 4 hours is a bit strong for me and i spent most of yesterday sleeping :rotfl:i'm now only taking 1 of them. Whether or not guardian angels exist or not will remain unsolved. Personally i dont believe in them, but give me 2 co codamol and i do lol. Its a very comforting thought though thinking you have a guardian angel and i do have respect for people who believe they exist.

That is so funny, a drug induced guardian angel.

Glad you're feeling a lot better today, and even better news that they caught the !!!!!! who caused the accident.

I am fairly sure that as soon as I exclaim the following: I am an atheist, therefore I do not believe in guardian angels. Or anything paranormal that cannot otherwise be explained by the LAWS of the universe - my opinion will be immediately disregarded within this thread. But I think I should still share my opinion to the main question asked.

Since I have exclaimed openly and proudly that I do not believe in a higher existence, my life has been very much the same, well, better in fact. I came straight out of uni into a well paid job, couldn't ask for more at this time in my life, if there was a higher power, I would assume it would reject to support me for my vocal exclamations to the disbelief of such.

I find it very odd and always have done that people openly admit to believing in God, Jesus, Angles etc but on the other hand they would never entertain the idea of UFO's or aliens existing, and ghosts for that matter..

We have people that drive around in vans with Jesus Army written on the side and that's just accepted, a man who made water turn to wine lol. If I drove around in a van with Aliens Exist written on the side people would think I was crazy but there's no more evidence to say either do or don't exist but people go to church and prey to somebody that there's no evidence ever existed..

If God existed do you honestly think he would let people get kidnapped and have their heads cut off?

I think not and if you still think he exists, tell me why he lets these things happen?

    God, Jesus, Angels

  • Do you know some 4x4 drivers from a volunteer network to help others when road / driving conditions aren't safe for normal cars? ( sever snow, flooding etc) are they to be hated too? Or the ones who need them due to where they live and the nature of their jobs?

Or the ones whose lives were also saved in rollovers by their four by fours?

Some 4x4 drivers don't drive considerately. Is their a type of car whose drivers all drive well and considerately, I have not seen that one yet!

while it is true that we should not tar all 4x4 drivers with the same brush, it amazes me the large number of 'earth mothers' who abandon their 4x4 in the middle of the road (or some other dangerous position) just to get little timmy into school on time (especially in london). There is no need to drive such a large vehicle in an urban setting and the majority of idiots that do are simply using it as an extension of their ego/penis*

  • Ahh Chatalouge I'm so glad they caught the RR driver! :)

And I'm also tickled by the idea of painkiller-induces angels ;)

    Speedy recovery!

    I believe in Angles.

But yes I agree. The thing I can’t understand about God, Farthelium and Jesus is how can people believe in something no one has ever seen, etc? So yes as you say it is the same as believe in UFO’s, werewolves or the Loch Ness Monster. In fact there is probably more proof of those than God, Farthelium or Jesus.

As a couple we only have one car. Its entire unnecessary for us to have two cars and the expense and environmental impact when by far the majority of our urban transport is done by public transport. ( my husband works in an inner city and commutes weekly). When we do have our car in a city it seems silly to have a car just for that reason:rotfl:.

I cannot speak for people doing school runs in London, but if I had a child and were drive it somewhere in London it would be dropped of in our car, and if it were any where like our old street, that might involve opening a door and kicking it out. Now there are rules about strapping kids in until they can vote or what ever and signing them in and out of places at ages I was travelling alone, it must be harder and more congested.

What saved you was a lot of years of development in car safety.
    Well yes exactly.

This reminds me of a cartoon I saw of a doctor sewing up a cancer patient after surgery. The caption was something like "If anybody thanks God that this man is alive I'm going to put the tumour back in".

and of course you have concrete evidence to prove this which you will post on here to prove what people have been trying to prove or discount for hundreds of years ?

no one knows for sure and i dont think they will any time soon.
belief is a very personal thing but personally i do believe that there is help if you need it and ask for it. and i dont think there is any harm in the OP believing her mother is watching out for her provided she doesnt deliberately put herself in danger because of it.

the way i justify in my own mind why some people do and some people dont get help is this.
    1) you need to need it
    2) you need to ask for it consciously or subconsciously.
    3) you need to believe it
    4) there needs to be a way to help
    5) divine intervention wont cause detriment to anyone else either now or in the future.
    6) you need to say thank you for the help

lots of you are telling the OP theres no such thing as guardian angels then mentioning 'luck' what actually is luck, good things that happen to you without explanation, being in the right place at the right time, not receiving life threatening injuries in an accident that possibly should of caused them. food for thought.
Of course you can point us towards statistical evidence that people who believe in guardian angels are less likely to die in accidents than people who don't?
