Do you believe in guardian angels?

But it isn't a question of whether I am allowed to believe in extraterrestrial life, or not.
I could agree with the statement "There is a possibility that life exists in some form external to the Planet Earth" but you won't get me agreeing with "There is a possibility that non-corporeal beings exist, are linked to some individuals, and through some form of action are able to prevent them from coming to harm sometimes"0 -

Given that I don't believe in guardian angels, and have said so in the very first post on this thread, I'm not sure why you added the second part?0 -
Because I was clarifying my own position, not yours. I'm not going to put words into anyone else's mouth
On a side note: Do those people with a belief in guardian angels make more risky decisions because they belief they have aquired some form of protection from danger?0 -

When your post is in direct response to mine, including a quote, you can hopefully understand my confusion on the matter.0 -
I think that guardian angels are a comforting concept, but no-one will ever know for sure.
Two people I know worked in the World Trade Centre in New York (the son, and his wife, of a colleague of my dad's) and they did not die in the terrorist attack because he left his car keys in his kitchen - they had to go back for them and so were running 10 to 15 minutes late; ordinarily they would have been in the lift at the time the plane struck the first tower. I always used to think that they must have had a guardian angel. But now, I wonder about all the people who weren't so fortunate - where were their guardian angels? The majority were just ordinary, nice people at work.
Maybe they exist, but I don't expect that I will ever see one. I don't believe in aliens either.
Glad you survived your accident though OP - very best wishes to you. x0 -
We will never know the reason why some believe they have and some just don't believe, and could go on forever arguing about it. I know what I experience and others know what they do or don't experience. And no, I don't take risks in the hope that I will be made invincible. I just mooch along and do what I do, and its comforting to know that somebody somewhere is keeping an eye out for me0

The doctrine of guardian angels is part of the Catholic church's tradition,.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Haven't read all the replies - just wanted to say pleased to hear you're safe and in one piece. Been in several accidents myself (couple of write-offs, but nowt as bad as you experienced!) and know the trauma stays with you for a long time (if not forever).
I do often say (as does my mum) that 'that's Dad watching over me' but it's more of a comfort thing than a belief. I'm not really sure what I believe in.
My BF sometimes moans about things like traffic - we had to take a major detour recently on our trip away - and I always say things like maybe someone's looking out for us and we'd have been in a nasty accident if we'd had gone that original route - I always think we're being delayed or rerouted for a reason. Reminds me of that little proverb thing where this old couple have no money and are staying in someone's stable or something and their only cow dies (only source of income) - but the point was that God (or who/whatever) was going to take his wife but sacrificed the cow instead. Silly little story, but I can't even tell it out loud without getting all teary lol.
Anyway, glad to hear you're okay.
