  • Virtual hugs and healing vibes for Skinty.

Our little office is horrendous. I have battled against the tide of paperwork but it is threatening to engulf me. Time for a major sort out but I dont know where to start and dont feel very motivated.

I am going to buy a little filing cabinet to go under the desk to start with so important paperwork can go in there. We have a big floor to ceiling cupboard that is just crammed with stuff. Maybe doing one shelf at a time is the way to go. OH has been self employed since 2003 I think so I could probably shred some of his old accounts stuff.

Elsewhere the kitchen is progressing, slowly. Nearly all the walls are replastered. The laundry mountain is growing and the rest of the house is a bit messy. Should really find something for tea I suppose.

Morning all. another overcast day in York this morning - pity, I have 4 washloads at least to get dry.

Nice early start here - DD2 off to the last day of her course - these 6 day weeks have wiped her out ( work Mon-Fri then all day course on Sat) Still she can sit and chill at the last cricket match tomorrow...

Skinty - if you are reading this hugs and spoons and coping vibes and the karma bus being sent to you from Yorkie Towers. Glad the op is over, finally.

Pigpen - know you don't do hugs - so I'm just dispatching positive thoughts your way. Plus the karma bus. Actually you probably need the karma tank to put KH in his place once and for all. (is a karma tank a contradiction in terms?)

LW - glad to hear the kitchen is in and you are still in one piece.

HB - glad to hear of your cats recovery.

Ionafan - hope the knees have calmed down now...

I won't be around next week - we are Monday to Friday in Filey. When I say we I mean me, DH and DD1. We are hoping that DD2 and DS will cope..... I already know that wi-fi is only available in the pub on site, and if I am in the pub I don't think I will be prioritising the internet! None of us have smart phones so apart from the odd text we should be technology free. I'm taking some books and looking to chill.

For those who have known me a long time and have heard all about DD1 and her struggle with ME I have some positive news. She has been working as a relief manager for the local hospice in it's charity shops since January. She passed her 6 months probation with flying colours and now has 2 guaranteed days a week - but she will probably get more than that. Well tomorrow she is taking part in a colour fun run over 5K for the hospice and the local children's hospice. You start with a white T shirt and they throw colour at you as you go round. By the end you get covered, but you do end up with a unique fashion item at the end of it! Fingers crossed.

Wow! Fun run sounds cool. I have done lots of races but none yet that involve paint! I bet it will be an amazing experience!

  • Afternoon Flyladies

I have dragged all the boxes out from under the boys' bunks and flung a whole heap of stuff. The dust under there was disgusting :o but everything is ship-shape now.

I have amassed a HUGE bag of yarn for the chazzer, I need to come to terms with the fact it's never going to get knitted. If there are any Flyladies in the West Mids area who would like first dibs on it, please let me know, all free of charge, obv. I dunno whether posting would be viable thanks to RM's exorbitant rates for parcels now but if any of you who are further afield would be interested, drop me a PM and I'll let you know what's there.

Done millions of loads of washing (or so it feels like), stripped the remaining beds and remade them and have scrubbed the kitchen too. Much more productive than the usual skid free Saturdays we tend to indulge in. I got out of bed for a start :rotfl:

Kids beds stripped and washed, waiting for them to re-dry and will make up again in in a mo!
    Wm x3.
Shopping done and unpacked! Letters posted. Weigh in at boots (another 1lb decluttered) my half a stone target is done. Haven't been as strict the last few weeks and still heading in the right direction so I aim to keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully lose another couple of pounds. It's obvious really- just stop eating loads of rubbish and just have a small treat when I fancy!
Also went to get ds 1 some new school tops. I have had to throw three away in a fortnight! Not happy! Tried two shops but none in his size! :(
Cooking dinner now and would like to tidy up the hallway! That's it for me today!

  • Oh dear.... On the plus side, dh has finally fitted 4x working LED lights over the sink.......the only down side is that all the crumbs, grime and muck are now illuminated in a million watts of light

I have however had a good clean around the kitchen, decluttered the 2cupboards the lights are screwed into (cake mix expiring apr2013 good to use maybe??), and had a clean behind the microwave. :)

FizzWhizz, is there anything decent in the bag you are giving away? (I like hand-dyed or other 'proper' wool, so I'm guessing not if it's for the chazzer and not to sell on ravelry , but I ask in eternal hope and optimism!)

As for us, had a little trip to a&e this morning with the smallest one, with a pulled elbow. Never doing the hokey cokey again. All recovered now thank goodness.
  • mamaninie, there are a few bits of "proper" yarn, some Rowan 4 ply and some Rowan Bamboo Tape off the top of my head, plus some Patons and Jaegar pure cotton and a skein of Hipknits hand dyed cobweb-weight silk yarn. Send me your Rav Username if you like and I can show you some of the stuff I'm chucking :)

    Evening all

Not a good day a Mum was rushed into hospital with her heart this morning so I have been at the hospital all day. She is stable now but they don't know what has caused it so she is staying there until they know (much to her disgust!). I feel exhausted, so rubbish with medical things.

Poor DH had gone to collect DS3 from a party 30 minutes away and he is shatterd after flying home from NY overnight. Early nights all round and hopefully a better day tomorrow.
