I think you are getting confused with "Administration" and "Liquidated".

A company is still trading when in Administration. Only after the profitable parts have been sold on, then the leftover scraps are Liquidated.

I've worked for a company that entered administration before, thankfully I wasn't made redundant and got transferred to the new company that was salvaged under TUPE regulations. The original company that entered administration was then put into liquidation.

NO i am not i explained this earlier. i am well aware of the difference,

Good evening, have many people had success at getting EE to reduce the price of your contract due to P4U not being around to uphold your cashback offer? I have seen odd mention of it and just wondering if it is worth a call and to who? Paying £11.99 a month and only six months in to the contract when after cashback it was going to be around half this.

    Many thanks

Call customer services and explain/ask/plead. It's at the network's discretion. I have had success in the past with another network who were very helpful, although now some time has passed since the event it may be more difficult to obtain a gesture of goodwill. It is something I always do as soon as it becomes clear that a cashback contract isn't going to be honoured.

£11.99 per month for 24 months - £287.76 total to pay. We were supposed to get £6.99*24 cashback - £167.76 refund. We signed up last May so approaching 12 months into the contract. I have tried a couple of times so far and unfortunately they (T-Mobile) have basically said sorry, not our problem.

There are only two reasons for failing to get cashback.

One you are in control of - following all the groundrules, which far too many people don't do and therefore only have themselves to blame.

The other is when the dealer goes bust - you can try to mitigate the loss, but you can't control it. It generally throws up a herd of people blaming everyone they can think of, but it's the nature of the game.

Those following the groundrules over time can gain enormous benefit far in excess of their expectations and accept the situation which is outside their control. In this case, I did mitigate my losses very quickly (as I did a few years ago when another dealer I was using went bust) but you do rely on the goodwill of the network involved and need to speak with the right person.

This long after the event, I think it's a lost cause - though the administrators have issued their latest proposal documents this week, for what that's worth. The projection for payments to those owed money for cashback contracts is less than 0.4% and unlikely to be paid for at least 12 months.

Don't spend it all at once!
  • Hi there,

It's now been a few months since Phones 4U went into administration and we're hearing that people are still being billed by Phones 4U despite being out of contract with their mobile provider. Is money being taken out of your account by Phones 4U? If so, could you email me the details to news@moneysavingexpert.com. Many thanks, MSE Paloma.

A network contract doesn't end unless the customer cancels it, they just reach minimum term.
It surely must be the networks billing the customers not P4u
It's not just about the money

The people you "heard from" must be mistaken. Silk is quite correct.
