Phones 4U collapses into administration

  • I check cashback deals every single day from a variety of sources. Having waited for a long time for a decent deal, up one pops this morning with Dialaphone.

On the bright side, it could have appeared last week, then I definitely would have grabbed it and have lost all the cashback.

As for the rest, if a company goes into liquidation it matters not what they have in their bank account. Assets are allocated by the Administrators - and customers with outstanding claims are likely to get virtually nothing. Airtime contracts are with the network, but I wouldn't expect cashback, free gifts or anything else. It's better to assume they've all dropped off a cliff (to paraphrase) and anything you can revover will be a bonus. The only exception would be if the administrators could somehow salvage part of the business (which is one of their objectives) - but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Son upgraded his contract though phones4u last week (new iphone) he's paid £70 to upgrade the phone which he was due to pick up instore this week how will this affect him? Will he be able to contact EE (as his contract is with them) and arrange for the phone to be sent to his home address? Will phones4u still honour this contract?

BBC breakfast (just now) said if phone dispatched all ok, *if not* the order will be cancelled. (And refunded)

Anything else will be decided by the administrators

I honestly doubt it is going to be that simple. I can see a lot of people being told by the likes of EE that its tough p4u cant send out the phone they asked for but the airtime contract is still valid. In other words: No phone but you still pay.

That's commercial suicide for EE and they know that - will never happen.

Must admit, I am curious as to what P4U did, afterall all the networks have stayed with Dixons Carphone...well, except Three...

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

My wife a upgraded through p4u and was given £100 for her old iphone, 2 weeks ago.

£100 still not received. I'm guessing we won't be able to get the old phone back?
