Neighbour parking overhanging driveway

  • Thanks all for your inputs.

This is still ongoing as the local landord has stated my neighbour is within her Legal Rights to park there if she wants. Where are my legal rights then? Feels like I shouldn't have any.

Feeling completely drained with the as its escalated even more. Another neighbour's family completely blocked me in whereby I called the police. I didn't know who it was at the time and didn't check due to the ongoing situation.

It's now coming into the winter weather where it's due to freeze over and I'm worried that I hit the neighbours car because she decides to park further and further back every time.

Also she comes back within 5 minutes of me coming home which is making me feel unsafe as if I'm being watched. I don't have set times for coming in so this is strange as if I'm being watched by her or another neighbour who may be calling her.

You seem to have exhausted every avenue - local council, local landlord, police, neighbour themselves - who all agree that she is doing nothing wrong...

Could it be that you are not very well and need some support? It might be worth talking to your GP - the feelings you are having seem very out of proportion to the information you have given us.

make a habit of being unpredictable with your retuning home times! that way she cant get satisfaction out knowing she is going to infuriate you.

ask a friend or relative to follow you home, and when you park in your friend parks in her spot, then make provisions to have a nice LONG cuppa and chat. when friend moves you move your car into position where she cant over hang your drive.

she will get fed up eventually of being a inconsiderate when its happening to her.

No, I don't need help for myself. I'm working and fed up of having to struggle to get in and out of my drive constantly. I'm standing up for what I believe in.

I've never once parked over a dropped kerb, caused a neighbour hassle or been inconsiderate.

Thanks, it's something to try. Don't think I should be going through this situation. All it takes is one inconsiderate neighbour to cause you a whole lot of trouble.

So when you were completely blocked in and called the police, did they turn up and get the car moved for you?

Just pull past and reverse in; thats what I do when someone is overhanging the driveway. If you can get in/out its not worth getting in a stew about.
Has this suggestion been answered? Seems like the best solution. You can go backwards down a one way street if manouvreing by the way, which would cover you getting out of your driveway...
  • Just park the car across your drive? It might mean you have to do it for a few weeks til she gets the message but surely that's better than getting yourself stressed out?!?

Stuff the police, just get a few burly men round and push it out the way. Or use jacks or a 4x4.

I would never dream of parking in front of someones drive. Some people need to be taught a simple lesson.

How far are you willing to escalate?

Some people will escalate a very simple thing way out of proportion, the less intelligent they are, the more out of proportion their actions will be.

I got accused of damaging next door kids football (when all i did was drop it back over the fence), convinced i'd done it and before asking me about it, neighbour slashes my tyre. 90p football versus £90 tyre.... Fortunately it was already at the legal minimum tread depth, so it actually cost me nothing more than the 3 minutes it took to wheel out the trolley jack and change it :)
I've now got my CCTV turned back on.

The point is, someone might just park your wheelie bin up against your front door and set it on fire, some people are complete nutters and don't have the intelligence to realise how much trouble they'll get into.
