  • Not a productive day yesterday after all, the initial morning enthusiasm dampened horribly as one of my aunt's passed away (dad's sister) - fell ill, had stroke in hospital, never woke up. I was not particularly close to her but it will really knock my dad, who is in poor health anyway - she was 8 years younger than him, he also lost a much younger brother 3 years ago, who was only 10 years older than me. Won't be able to visit them till Sunday :( need to phone the rest of dad's family...depressing.

Opened stack of letters, mostly DD transfer confirmations or slips to post back, but two creditors who have had token payments for 4-6 months now getting edgy. Should have phoned them yesterday but put it off, that sinking feeling in stomach again.

No new projects in the offing, things have gone too quiet so need to get job sorted urgently. A day for sending cv's and go for quantity - play the numbers game.

  • DD called this am....she's much too busy having fun to be missing us, which is great news! She even told me that didn't drink last night, because her voice was sounding a bit hoarse and she didn't want to make it worse.....am I proud of her or what!!!! :D Met lots of lovely people, likes her kitchen group, and hasn't had to take any more cash out yet (She only had £20 cash on her) (although I paid for her fresher's ticket), but it means she hasn't gone wild on drinking ....phew! But her finance hasn't come through yet....luckily her rent does not go out until next week.

    Feeling relieved.

  • Have been filing and doing tedious stuff this morning, no work to do as waiting on clients etc. Should really be doing VAT and Tax stuff but not in the mood. Time for a cuppa methinks :coffee:

I have just discovered where all those cool smileys are - have never bothered to click on the "more" button!:j

Am beginning to panic about mortgage now, on fixed deal at the moment, ends mid next year I Think - need to check date. Problem is that by next year our credit record will be trashed, so don't know if we will get another fixed rate. SC strongly advised not re-mortgaging to factor in debt.

Anyone had any luck with get a deal in similar situation?

  • Paying bills today
Road tax £180, Sax lessons for term £185:eek:
No spend so far this week on food but have to today, as went over last week due to packing food parcel for DD (£354, should be £300/month). Have cooked from freezer and finished everything in fridge except for 2 iceberg lettuce (2??)
Freezer emptying nicely too, we have 2 fridge freezers, one very very old - am trying to empty it to switch off to see how much difference it makes to electricity bill!! We can probably try and manage with one, but then much harder to batch cook.

Seen two more jobs to apply for - term time only so not brilliant pay but will fit it with other stuff.
Keep trying to call my dad but phone engaged all afternoon - it always worries me when I can't get through to them.
Off to do school run now, Mr T* on way home.

Possible new enquiry for work this afternoon, OH going to meet client on way home after work. Fingers crossed.
Two bookings for fun kids stuff in October = £66 extra!:)

Oh yes funding in first week can be a pain because for some reason they don't release the student finance until all the Uni paperwork is done and the student is properly signed up and matriculated - should come fairly quickly after that though . DS's appeared in his account at the end of fresher's week ..
