Have just updated again:j ..... a tiny drop in the ocean but am taking the cure from another thread ---break it up into 1% baby steps ....I have crawled my way to nearly 1% at which point I will stand...a little shakily perhaps but I WILL stand!

  • Fairly productive day

    1) Invoices done ready to post when out on school run
    2) Invoices paid for business supplies
    3) Direct debit issues - calls made (why don't people read their email? some offices are so inefficient:mad:)
    4) More DD forms completed (how can some companies set up on phone and others need written instructions - duplicating effort from last week here:mad:)
    5) Chasing up on debit card for new business account - GRRRRRR don't get me started - I have had the account for nearly 5 months and still no debit card - turns out I did not "apply" for one ....none actually told me I would need to - most business accounts come with it!!!!!!
    More paperwork.
    6) Essential Emails done.

Off to do school run now,
Need to get back on top of my budget spreadsheet - not up to date as lots of extra expenditure for getting DD off to university. Not looking forward to seeing the numbers:(

DD reported she spent £89 on books for this term
that's just for this terms modules............

  • Dreading two calls to MBNA and Virgin - they are reviewing after 6 months of token payments, but still do not have any extra to offer, wondering whether to just increase it a bit to show willing (paying £2 and £6) at the moment.

Also have never checked credit files (never needed to do, they were all falling over backwards to give us new cards, balance transfers, and increased limits even though we had only been making minimum payments for 12-18months) but wondering now whether to pay so can keep up to date with what's being recorded?

Good luck for the calls, NOA. Hopefully as you're in the same circumstances then they'll continue to accept the same payments. If it were me I wouldn't volunteer anything extra that'll put a strain on you.

And EEK! that's a lot of money on books. For a good cause though! Remind her to be all MSE and take good care so she can sell them after they're no longer needed. I was too lazy to do online auctions but my uni bookstore bought back books to sell second-hand to new students... maybe they'll do the same? :)
  • Hi Belle, You are right , I do not suppose that a few quid extra is going to make much difference to them in the grand scheme of things....

I don't have a problem with the books, but chances are that it will be unlikely she can sell them (or at least not all of them) ...she's doing English Lit and for A level she wrote notes in them and underlined/highlighted important bits of text !!!! But I'm sure she could if perhaps some of them aren't to her liking or she doesn't pursue that particular avenue. Books are one thing I have told her she doesn't need to skimp on. She says she joined the loyalty scheme and has already earned 9/10 stamps to get £10 off future purchases .... Have taught her well methinks :D

  • So, the credit card that I have not written to and have kept up minimum payments on plus pay extra on to pay off by December has just sent me a letter putting the interest rate up.

That must be as a result of what's appearing on credit file now I guess
It's the card I wasn't to keep as an emergency only backup as do not yet have an emergency fund.:mad:
