• Hi NOA,

Glad you have got DD sorted for Uni and well done on getting the interest paid back on your OD.

Send me link to the thread if you decide to do one to find out how people paid their debts off, I'd be curious too!

Hopefully you will hear something on the job front soon

  • Thanks Brizzle and TC, that's a good idea , I will ask on new thread....on Sunday probably as feel a bit lethargic now, and cant' seem to formulate sentences properly:p

DD is flapping, getting very nervous about everything, and being totally non-productive, so instead of my to do list above have been sorting out her stuff with her, (did 5 loads of washing though!)- news sheets and all her jumpers so that she is starting a fresh with everything. Last minute stuff we had forgotten - storage box with lid for under desk, and padlock for kitchen locker, plus a better purse she has suddenly acquired lots of cards (NUS, student uni, bank, NI, loyalty cards etc etc).

DS is coming down with cold too, hope it doesn't get worse as have booked for family meal at a chef and brewer pub - takes Tes+c0 vouchers and has had excellent reviews too. Bit of a wobble with DS today, long story, but a big sign that everything is affecting him much more than he shows.

OH is in bed already, he has booked day off tomorrow, not sure if that's a good thing or not, lets just stay calm and carry on as normal and hope no fireworks.

No debt busting work today - oh - but did renew my maximiles account (used to do it when it was ipoints about 3 or 4 years ago - accumulated loads but then forgot to spend them and they expire after a certain time so account balance went back to zero:() ......And also did get Dr O pizza vouchers as listed on this site, from vouchers codes inside the boxes (bought them earlier this week, without realising, then retrieved them from recycling to get the codes after seeing the tip on MSE:T Handy to give to my daughter (£7.50!!!!)

Am off to bed, busy day tomorrow....

    Goodnight all.... :)

just the odd moment here and there of sparklers....when I bit my tongue very hard and let it fizzle out because I could read DD's face and I didn't want last day to be a miserable one for her. She did her ostrich with head in the sand act on Thursday and Friday and after another round of shopping (am afraid I have lost the plot a bit in terms of keeping track of spending) we got back home at 3 and she got into bed!!!! to be fair she couldn't sleep all night on Thursday, so muggins mummy had to get out the suitcase and literally start throwing things in it, as we were picking up DS from school at 5.30 and going straight to dinner (Was nice, but everyone a bit subdued). Got back at 9.30 then helped DD pack until 1.30 am. Had to be up early on Saturday to take DS to band practice at school - no rest for the wicked.

Dropped DD off yesterday and managed to leave without crying in front of her ... then blubbed in the car all the way home :(
Feels very strange.....can't do anything today as my back went again yesterday - probably due to rushing around yesterday.

DS is feling quite sad today - he finished all his homework this morning .......THAT's A FIRST!!!!!!

There is s stack of unopened letters from Friday and Saturday. Am hoping they are just confirmations of changes in DD and not anything more. Will leave until tomorrow to open.

Can't sit for long as can't find a comfortable position, but pottered very slowly in the kitchen and have made 3 or more measl for the week......veggie soup with all the left over bits, spicy carrots/new potatoes/petit pois (enough for 2 meals) and leftover chicken spicedup for sarnies or pitta filling. Am planning to blitz the paperwork if back will allow me to.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend:)
Looking forward to catching up ............

Hi - just been reading your diary, appreciate that the major problem is the school fees but TBH I think you have to stick with it now.
My 2 went to private primaries and it was planned that they would go to private senior too - then I did the sums. I earn quite a bit more than you but felt I could not risk being able to pay the fees for the next 10 years (as it was at that stage) so found v good state schools.
Because the kids only moved at 11 when all of their friends were going to different schools it wasn't like I was taking them away from a private school to a state school. It would have been incredibly difficult to move them later on and that is why it is so hard for you to think about now.
Not sure what year your DC is in, but will you be considering state 6th form for him - it is entirely reasonable to move them at that stage - plenty of moving goes on at that stage.
Good luck with Uni!!! afraid the minimum loan doesn't go very far - having said that some find the first weeks v expensive, tends to calm down after that
  • Good luck to your DD at Uni! Hope she has a great time during freshers and then buckles down to work. It won't be long until 1/ 2 term and she'll be back with all her washing;)

Hope your back is better soon..it is so easy to overdo it and its probably your body saying slow down!

    TC x

Oh and I loved the qoutes..:)
