  • Went to Ground Zero last Dec and yes it was humbling and eerie but have to look through boardings cos they are building on site at present so can't really see much, but images of rescue workers around sit moving. Staten Island ferry (the free one) not far from Ground Zero so can be done all in a morning. I got a $7 all day bus ticket and hopped on and off . On the way back bus took us through China town looked intersting but didn't get off bus. A must see is Empire State building, go early in morn -no queues. Central park good and Times Square great for shopping and in eve all billboards lit and lots of neon signs. Felt safe there and loved every minute of it going back this Dec -- can't wait!!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I need a bit of help

I am having to book a hotel for my boss. He is flying into JFK for a 2 night stop over. Ideal would be for him a hotel near Manhattan, but the prices are really high.

I just wondered if anyone could recommend a nice hotel perhaps half way that was easy to get back to JFK. I have never been myself so have not go a clue!

    Many thanks

Anyone know of the cheapest way to get there for a few days in december from manchester? Would like to stay somehwere 'central' too so not much messing about.

we went with Continental from Manchester a few years ago arriveing on the 7th for a week the flights were about £200 each, we stayed at the park central, on 7th ave and 56th street just up from times square, about a 10 minute walk, it was also close to the nicer shopping area on 5th ave15 minutes walk away. the other plus point of the park central is it has a subway station entrance on the corner so it is raining you can be out of the rain in seconds and on the subway that runs over to 5th ave or down to battery park via tmes square. I just checked the prices and wow they are expensive for early December.
