I honestly cannot comprehend why anyone would defend them; they claim to be a 'budget' airline yet seem to charge more for just about everything...
Extra for seat allocation
Extra for 'priority boarding'
An extortionate extra for baggage
Extra for 'insurance'
Extra for credit card fees
Blah blah blah
I would've gone British Airways had I known about this, but it's a 2 hour trip to Faro, it's not exactly halfway across the world. And I'm pretty sure most people take baggage, hence the hefty fees.
I'm not some sort of idiot who expects to travel for nothing, but then again, it's not my fault that Ryanair want to conceal all the extra fees until way into the booking so it's practically too late to back out.
It's clever, I'll give them that. But as I've said before, it's daylight robbery.
I can't help wondering if " Rory The Filmmaker " who used Expedia to book a Ryanair flight makes low budget films.😂0 -
Obviously "Rory" has never flown before, and thinks the airlines owe him a favour for choosing to fly with them.
I am glad he will never fly Ryanair again, just imagine him sitting behind you, kicking the back of your seat.Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -

Ooh! Stop the press! We've got a joker on our hands!
I would never have used Ryanair if there had been a suitable time for me with another airline.
Expedia was used to book the hotel and flights in a package deal. I trusted Expedia, simply because why wouldn't iI?
I was not aware of the Ryanair terms of use in terms of the one stating that their flights are exclusive to their own website.
So unless Expedia are breaking the law, they must have some sort of partnership. In any event, despite all your protests, the fact remains that the fess were concealed and unclear to me until the package deal was actually booked.
If that makes me a mug, it makes me a mug, but pardon me for thinking that baggage fees in Ryanair's case are disgustingly overpriced - there was no question of taking a 'lighter' bag or no bag at all...a 10 day stay requires some decent packing.
It doesn't make me 'ignorant' or 'stupid' - what is MSE's slogan...
Cutting your costs, fighting your corner! Yeah right...0 -

But that doesn't mean that personal responsibility for how you are going to be spending your money and a bit of common sense have to be totally forgotten about.0 -
would it make you feel happier if the price was higher and included the baggage cost?
everyone, no matter who you book with, charges for baggage you may not see it but the pricing for all airlines will include a baggage handling fee.
bottom line is if you dont like it then dont book with them because your behaviour is actually encouraging there pricing structureLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

They are not breaking the law, they are breaking the terms of use for Ryanair's website.
Expedia absolutely does not conceal luggage fees. When you book there's a box called 'Important Trip Information' and which has a link to luggage fees. The fact that you missed it or didn't bother reading it does not make it concealed.0 -

Have you ever actually booked any flights before ?
You sound like you simply don't understand how the short haul market works. I hope if you take anything from this thread it is that before booking any flight you need to research and compare the various options and never just assume a LCC will be the cheapest option for your particular set of circumstances .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Have you ever actually booked any flights before ?
Yes, I have. If I hadn't, then I wouldn't know the difference.
I have booked Ryanair before and do not remember the baggage fees being so high, and I made the awful mistake of purchasing 'priority boarding'.
I mean, if that isn't a blatant indicator of Ryanair trying to leech off every last penny - avaricious robbers - then perhaps you should suggest to the CEO that they start charging for the oxygen on board. Or maybe use of the toilet:
£2 for a wee
£5 for a number two
(Terms of service: You may only excrete waste through Ryanair as part of our policy)
As I have reiterated before, I would not have booked with Ryanair if there had been a more suitable flight time. I underestimated the airline's self proclaimed 'budget' business plan and, with the fuss that followed with Expedia not sending a confirmation email and Ryanair's extremely dodgy website, I definitely will not be using them again.
When I started this thread, I did not expect sympathy, but I certainly didn't anticipate such hostility...it's not like Ryanair have a gleaming reputation for customer service...0 -
You seem to be missing the point that Ryanair are a business and not a charity.
Their sole reason for operating is to make a profit and if they can do this by charging high fees for checked baggage then providing their customers are willing to pay these fees, that is exactly what they will keep doing.
It's the same with their priority boarding.
If no one paid for this, they would have scrapped it as they would have had to spend money to operate a system that wasn't bringing them in any revenue.
Anyway, when the prices for Ryanair flights come up on the Expedia website, the page clearly states "Hand baggage only". This is a blue clickable link, and if you click on this, it goes to the page that shows how much the charges are for checked baggage.
Just because you didn't see this link or saw it but didn't bother clicking on it isn't the fault of either Expedia or Ryanair.
As long as customers such as yourself keep using them, why would they feel any need to improve their service?it's not like Ryanair have a gleaming reputation for customer service0 -
When you select Ryanair flights on expedia there is a link called 'Baggage Fee Information'. I take it you did not read this?0
