Rory the film maker.
7 50 for a handfull of nachos and a standard coke the other night when i wnt to see the Inbetweeners. Thats robbery.0 -
Thank you all for your replies. They were all extremely tactful, totally not condescending and very helpful.
You clearly all work for Ryanair, or if you don't, you obviously have strange ideas about VFM.
It is slightly weird that I am spitting blood over this matter, you're right.
And to the guy that bothered to look at my history with companies...kudos to you...0 -

So because people don't agree with you they are automatically employees?
Bottom line is its their business model. People who don't take baggage don't have to pay for it. People who do take it pay. You do have a choice.... fly another airline.0 -
Well, if I'd known about the baggage fees prior to booking the flight (as it was all done through Expedia), then I certainly wouldn't have gone with that airline. I honestly cannot comprehend why anyone would defend them; they claim to be a 'budget' airline yet seem to charge more for just about everything...
Extra for seat allocation
Extra for 'priority boarding'
An extortionate extra for baggage
Extra for 'insurance'
Extra for credit card fees
Blah blah blah
I would've gone British Airways had I known about this, but it's a 2 hour trip to Faro, it's not exactly halfway across the world. And I'm pretty sure most people take baggage, hence the hefty fees.
I'm not some sort of idiot who expects to travel for nothing, but then again, it's not my fault that Ryanair want to conceal all the extra fees until way into the booking so it's practically too late to back out.
It's clever, I'll give them that. But as I've said before, it's daylight robbery.0 -
OP, surely you would have read the terms and conditions which would have stated as such, or gone onto ryanair's website (even though it is common knowledge that most budget carriers charge extra for hold baggage) to check?
Your ignorance/stupidity isn't Ryanair's problem, it is yours.0 -
The extra weight of your luggage cost extra money in fuel, also when you check a bag in it costs money, the check in staff that have to handle it the baggage handlers getting it out to the aircraft and loading it, Ryan air have to pay ground handling to do this for them
It is well known with Ryan air that if want to check bags then you have to pay for the privilege
Same with flybe and easy jet0 -

So the problem was with Expedia, not Ryanair.0 -

How does that work?
If you don't like the total price-surely you don't hit confirm and shop around a bit more ?
If you chose not to back out at that point how is that Ryanair's fault. You have free will .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

British Airways charge extra for:
Seat allocation (you can check in 24 hours before and pick a seat)
Baggage (although they market it as a "hand baggage only fare")
Insurance (does any airline include this as standard?)
Credit card fees
Anyway back to Ryanair.... If you'd booked on their own website all of their optional extras and fees are laid out very clearly as you go through the booking process and not "before it's too late to back out".
Sounds to me like you booked through Expedia assuming everything was included. And it wasn't. If you'd gone direct to Ryanair it would have been very clear what and wasn't included and how much the extras you want would cost.0
