When I broke my foot a few years ago (tripping over rabbit!!!!!!!) I had to have plaster removed on day two because of swelling and had to sit elevated every day for 6 weeks but all worked out fine. Sorry you will have to go with the flow. At least I could keep tubigrip on and have a bath without the palaver!

Evening all
A few of you have been kind enough to say they find my post's amusing, so I thought I post a brief description of my day at work, it may raise a smile.
As I work for a school & it is coming up to end of term, it is very busy. I worked solidly from 7:30 til 1, producing thousands of documents, interrupted a few time by paper jams in the photocopier, but nothing any more eventful.
I went to lunch @ 1 and after 20 mins, was getting ready to go back to the print room to start again.
I was called to do a medical as they couldn't find the medical officer (I'm a first aider) I went & grabbed a first aid box & shot up to one of the class rooms, here I found a child shaking form head to toe, obviously having some sort af panic/rage attack. I managed to persuade child to come with me to the med room, but when I got there I couldn't get in as the room was locked, I got my keys & opened the door, still propping up wobbly child, I wanted to get the child on to the bed, but found inner door was locked too. when I finally got that door unlocked I found medical officer asleep on the bed, having not slept well the night before, medical officer retires to toilet. Whilst I was still dealing with wobbly child, another child arrived, supported by 2 friends, a fleeting glance told me this was almost certainly a broken ankle, as foot was hanging at strange angle! Wobbly child had to move from bed to chair to make room for broken ankle, ambulance & parents were phoned for ankle & parent for wobby.
At this point 3rd child arrived with suspected broken fingers, was given ice & asked to sit on third chair. 4th child then arrived dripping blood. By now broken ankle is screaming blue murder, wobbly child's parent has arrived & they start yelling at each other. I check out broken fingers, but no sign of injury, I then realise the french lesson is about to start & this child is ill/injured every time there is a french lesson. Clean up bleeding child & stick plaster on, send child back to class. Send broken fingers to french having written note to explain late arrival in french. Phone ambulance again, as child has now been screaming for 20 mins, am told will be another 10 mins, there has been a serious RTA which is keeping ambulances v. busy. Calm down wobbly child & parent, email report to line manager with one hand whilst trying to calm screaming broken ankle, only to find the J key on my keyboard is no longer functioning so report is garbage. Print off form to go with child in ambulance, paramedic arrives & adminsters gas & air, am very tempted to ask for some, medical officer now emerges from toilet, ambulance arrives, medical officer, broken ankle & parerwork all depart in ambulance.
I return to my office to find 7 people waiting for photocopying, I start work, with that P E teacher stick head round the door, ' Can you do a medical?' someone knocked themselves out!!!!!

Good evening all!
Well I've had a lovely non-OS day:D Met ivyleaf for coffee followed by lunch, so that took care of a few hours. Well there was a lot of catching up to do:rotfl: And Aussie, we were both good, we had salad and spanish omlette. It was a shame the waitress didn't realise that when I asked for hot chocolate fudge cake and cream, that was actually code for I'd like a nice healthy apple please;) Was so stuffed I've done nothing much since I got home.:o
Bargain Rzl, the performance you refer to, is it the choral one for 40, and in one section 60 parts? I heard about it on the radio this morning. Sounds fascinating. I heard part of the rehearsal and it sounded really good.
Pink, it's lovely to have you back. ((((hugs))))) to Pink Tim (don't tell him I called him that:rotfl: ) Poor lad, but he sounds very brave, hope it mends soon.:D
Speaking of Barnstaple Hospital, they were fantastic with my DS4 when we were on holiday some 14 years ago. They were so kind to all of us. DS4 had a Bells Palsy and needed an operation (rather alarming for us, we had no idea what had happened). They couldn't have been kinder, and went out of their way because we were holidaymakers.
I did read the thread, but in several stages so have forgotten loads. So ((((hugs)))) for anyone who wants one. Especially you, scuzz. Sorry it's ending this way, but at least you gave it your best shot. No regrets, hun, it's all a learning curve:D

Edited to say
Hester, hadn't read your post, had to take a 'phone call while typing. Sorry, but that gave me such a giggle, you couldn't make it up:rotfl: :rotfl:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
OMG Hester
Having worked in a school - I can visualise what you have gone through.
Kyle thanks for the pm I have replied.
Have had it confirmed - my neighbour is a nurse and she insisted I went for an x-ray this afternoon. Yes, it was a dislocation and yes it seems to be now back in place but they can see inflamation around the injury - how I do not know, and yes, sitting on the step tonight I planted up 3 pots with no lifting! Still slightly tender but to be honest. this morning, before I realised it was muscular, I thought it was a heart attack! However, I think pain was too sharp for that one. Just thankful I feel fine now, just a bit tender. Just a bit scared as I was on my own! Plus I had the tooth extraction thing! Thanks to you all. Tooth thing with me again in 4 weeks time when I have to go through the dentist thing again! I will be on the sympathy vote again methinks!
Love, hugs, commiserations, congratulations etc etc to you all. You have all been my true friends today..
Lots of love

Well, have just managed to drag myself back to the computer after almost falling asleep on the sofa. I have had an exhausting first day back at school even though most of the pupils were off on a trip. Not as hectic as Hester's day, thank goodness!
I did have a bit of a problem getting into my room though - the door handle has fallen off again. It comes loose every so often but this time is beyond repair.
We had to have new doors a couple of years back and they are really shoddy, plus the handles were only attached by 2 screws. When you have over 100 teenagers a day using a flimsy door handle the inevitable is going to happen - regularly.
The first few times the handle was re-screwed, but now they can't use longer screws due to the placing of the lock, the wood is all chewed up anyway so nothing can grip and the mechanism is damaged as the door jammed and had to be forced. So the school will 'have' to buy a new door handle. Might be sorted by September!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Well a little news to report, OH has decided that we are going to see my friend who is converting a watermill in the foothills of the Pyrenees......we are going to stay on the coast at a Siblu site about 60 miles from where my friend lives.....was going to pay for it with tesco vouchers until I found out that you do not get any reductions if you use the vouchers, £299 with vouchers £219 without, so I am going to pay for the caravan and use some of the vouchers for the train. Just looking at a cheap hotel half way down France, we stay at the Village at St. Pierre, Calais the first and last night, but hope to book at Bourges which is about half way, I did look at Campanile but they are more expensive than the Village and do not do breakfast. We will go to Florida in the Autumn of 2009 (GW) rather than in the spring.
Phew...........................................
So now every penny is a prisioner, not sure how I am going to cut much more out of our limited budget, but I will get there believe me............I need to pay a £100 deposit on the holiday, which will leave me just over £100 to pay in March, then I have to put the cash for the hotels and fuel away.......I have £60 coming from Quidco from my car insurance, so thats a start.......I will be joining in the grocery challenges with a vengance over the next few months......
I have heard from my friend in Canada who lost her sister last week, she is back in Winnipeg, the trip to the UK is still on, so I will be seeing her next month.....they are trying to carry on as usual, its what her sister would have wanted.
Time to sign off for tonight.................and dream about our trip........we have wanted to do this trip for sssssssssssssooooooooooooo long..........it was one we would have done had we not had to sell our touring caravan when I had to give up work through ill health.
Night night.................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
