Yeah... I know what you mean Kate.. I feel a bit strange tonight for some reason not very positive.... although I have had a nice day. I was on a training course today which was very good. Today's positives are:

    1) really enjoyed the course and it finished1 & 1\2 hours early!! :T
    2) didn't take lunch with me add there was no fridge and so I had some wedges from a local cafe
    3) it was a large start and so I had a leisurely breakfast with dh this morning
    4) I checked my bank account and it's quite healthy
    5) we are planning to go to the sea side tomorrow:j

Hope everyone is OK. Good news about your dog Jodalie and well done for getting on with selling the car Kate!:T
  • Good evening all

I had a good day at work today, just half a day tomorrow and then 1.5 days off!!

    * Got my washi tape in the post today so could complete my diary organisation!
    * Pulled out £60 from my envelope for my day out tomorrow, then put £40 back as £20 is enough for my meal and I have some coins in the car for parking. Feeling proud of myself, now to see if I can stick to this amount!!
    * I'm sat in the home office listening to the rain with the smell of wet summer grass wafting in my window!
Finally accept that I can live within my means. I do not make enough to swan around in designer labels and park an Audi on the drive nor do I need to. I have perfectly good clothes from normal shops and my little Peugeot is perfect for my needs. In fact I'm much happier in general living this way.

Kate, I love this sentiment and I am working on being with you there! :D

  • I'm not there all the time Sunshine but more often than not lately. I think it's really about self-esteem and feeling able to say "no, I don't care to be a sheep" - at least it is for me. It's very difficult to swim against the tide if everyone around you does the same but once you see the reality (no, your colleagues and friends probably can't afford to live like that either) it becomes easier. My pre-LBM life was a Monet - beautiful and desirable from afar but a total, swirling mess up close (DD1 bought me a bookmark of a Monet last year so it's an analogy I have at hand all the time)

Anyway, I'm doing my list super early today because I am determined that today will be good - sort of finding the positives in advance so I can enjoy them even more at the time :)

    1. Car is GONE. Man collecting was lovely and here right on time.
    2. I have £10 in my pocket that's all MINE from the sale.
    3. Going to the "Magical Land of Out" for a double date with DH and good friends later and NO KIDS!!!
    4. I have nothing urgent to do and as I was up early for the car to be collected I'm going to squeeze as much as I can out of my day - bit of a pamper, play with kids before they leave for the sleepover, read my book and relax.
    5. Smile. Lots.

Hope you enjoyed your Pamper and date night Kate.

    Straight in with my positives:

    1. First day in Cyprus without DH and no major kidlet melt downs.

    2. My legs are starting to go beige.

    3. I went shopping with my Mum and dd2 this morning. Mum walks with a stick and struggles to get about so it was good to get her out of the apartment for a while.

    4. My Dad's car broke down on Thursday night but it wasn't my fault! I'd been out in it for the day and when he went to start it the engine wouldn't start. Turns out the break pads (?) needed replacing and the car 'tells' you this by keeping the rear break lights on. The lights had drained the battery and the breakdown was nothing to do with me (phew).

    5. Tonight is our first night in my parent's apartment. I miss having our own place but Mum will now do our laundry (she enjoys the challenge!)

Hope you had a good day at the seaside Dozey Crow. We've only been to three beaches here. Ds3 has had an eczema flare up and finds salt water agonising. He ends up sat on a sunbed for most of the day so we've kept our water fun to the complex pool (which is probably responsible for the eczema but which he loves playing in)

    Hi everyone,

    Posting up yesterday's positives.

    1) the drive was very picturesque.. Lots of beautiful countryside
    2) the weather was perfect.. Not too hot but very warm and it didn't start to rain until we were nearly home!
    3) we find a really lovely cafe for lunch

All in all it was a very full day with 12 hours out of the house! Not sure what we are doing today.. DH isn't up yet he is knackered! Have a great day everyone!

PS Nintud.... The pools in Cyprus are lovely too. I have eczema to and it was really bad as a child so I sympathize. I recently found that I am allergic to sodium laureth sulfate which is in almost all toiletries. I switched to old fashioned soap bars or organic SLS free shampoo or shower gel and my skin is loads better less dry and red. It may be worth a try? SLS is in aqueous cream too rather unbelievably.
  • Hi all

Sorry for my absence yesterday, I had a lovely day out but developed a migraine not long after I got home! However, in the spirit of this board, I am not dwelling on the searing pain :rotfl:

    Yesterday:
:D Lovely productive morning at work
    :D Lovely dinner out
:D Lovely catch up with my friend and even treated myself to a pair of jeans (£7)!

Today, I have accepted my post migraine limitations, and combined with the rain, am going to have a lazy day and make the most of the legitimate excuse!

Nintud - Washi tape is a type of craft tape but is repositionable, I use it to mark different bill due dates, paydays and other budget impacting things (and some general decoration). They come in about a billion different colours and patterns so keep my short attention span amused :rotfl:

Sunshine -I'll google washi tape later, I like pretty things!

Dozey Crow - aqueous cream has never helped him. I'll look out for SLS. We're using my mum's products and washing detergent and I think all the change has triggered this episode. He'd been clear for months and this feels like such a setback as I know he'll have to go back on steroid creams when we get home. He's been very brave.the eczema and heat have colluded to make him very itchy. Sun cream applications now have him fighting to hold back tears. I've got uv protective costumes for the littlies but dh thought that might be hindering recovery so now he's spending more of the day in normal swimming trunks but with factor 50 on his torso, whereas before he wore the uv costume all the time and only had cream on face and limbs. It's all trial and error to see which little changes can give him some relief.

Rising above that to today's positives:

    1. We had a NSD in the pool and at the apartment.
    2. I got in the pool for a lone 8am swim - managed 2 lengths before ds4 toddled out of the apartment in his trunks to join me.
    3. Despite my pool companion, I managed a leisurely 30 lengths this morning. Another 20 this afternoon took me up to my daily target of 50 lengths (second time I've reached target in 16 days).
    4. My Mum has let me have the air conditioner remote. Last night I felt like a baked potato, tonight will be lovely :-)

  • I was far too lazy to post yesterday but here's Sunday's list

    1. Had a fabulous night out and a very long lie in and no hangover (although I thoroughly deserved one!)
    2. Didn't buy shoes - raided DD1's collection
    3. DH took DD2 out so I had a wonderful few hours watching trashy biography movies that he hates
    4. Used up some mince from the fridge just in time and DH said it was the best lasagne I've ever made :D
    5. Lots of cuddles from kids as they missed us while they had their one night away :)

Hope that the thread has been a little quieter because you're all off having fun and enjoying your positives :)
