After so long I am finally home!

I wont break down every day I was away of course but today after getting back...

    * Balanced my YNAB and Bank Accounts and discovered the extra days away did not hammer my finances as bad as I thought! (thankful I managed to save double what I had planned before going away)
    * Completed and posted all OU/SAAS paperwork that was delivered while I was away
    * DS is happy, relaxed and content...for him that in itself is a miracle!
    * About to enjoy the first home made meal I have had in the last 2 weeks.

Glad to be home (sort of) and ready to get back to my day to day living :)

Hope you all been well over the last few weeks :)

I have read this thread from the beginning and it has bout smiles to my face and refreshed memories of being in Cyprus and giving blood!! Sadly I had to stop giving blood due to blood pressure but for the couple of years I did felt great satisfaction of doing some good. The postings of Cyprus had me back there at the harbour with my boys who were so much younger, now they holiday with girlfriends!!! But I hope you won't mind me adding to the thread. I am due to change jobs and next week is my last in my current jobs. The last few weeks have been made bearable by people telling me that I shall be missed and the difference I have made over the years. Quite humbling::o. So thank you for this thread because it is just lovely and I am sorry if this now sounds slushy.

Have a good day everyone and I will be back later xx

Hi Billie, glad you have fond memories of Cyprus. We fly home tomorrow so I'm a bit glum today, but I've booked to come back next July so it's only 11 months until our next visit and I can use that time to hone my bikini body :rotfl:

    Positives from Saturday;
    1. We spent the morning in the new Paphos mall and I still had some folding in my purse when we came out :j
    2. We had frozen Greek yoghurt and fruit for brunch.
    3. My mum ordered in an Indian meal for dinner. She has never ordered Indian food before and as well as rice she ordered 7 massive naan breads. Between the 7 of us (two under 8's) we managed 3 of them. Ds2 reheated one for breakfast this morning and had it with Nutella. This is a positive because even though I hate wasted food, naan and Nutella is a foul combination and even my cold pizza for breakfast loving son couldn't eat it. The human dustbin was defeated!

    Positives for Sunday;
    1. I swam 30 lengths in an empty pool this morning.
    2. We had lunch at Ricco's beach (a quaint beach cafe/bar with random items for decoration, great bacon and cheese toasties, a sea view and play areas for the kids) the littlies played with a puppy and I watched the pirate ship on the Med.
    3. Back in the pool this afternoon ds4 swam without swim discs (for a while) for the second day running.
    4. The suitcases are packed (sniff) and we can enjoy a last day at a hotel water park tomorrow without rushing back to pack.

It's going to be tough being positive on Tuesday, but I'll make sure Monday is fun for all.

Safe journey home but enjoy your last day.

Had ds2 and 3, with ds2's girlfriend, for lunch and their company is now such fun and enjoyable.

Even now they have all gone and I have cleared away I have such a positive feeling inside.

Hope you have all had a great weekend with lots of positives.

    Xx

  • Hi Billie & welcome, the more the merrier (literally)
Nintud - I hope you enjoy your last day!

Today has been a generally nice day. I overslept this morning but my mum was running late so was none the wiser, phew!

*Went to a local 'festival', although it's more a craft show and had a lovely wander around. Mum treated me to a pair of earrings and I think I have found her Christmas present (I know, early, but have to think about these things)
    * Had dinner with mum also, she refused to let me pay so free dinner!!
    * Grocery list written for next weeks trip to the supermarket and budget settled and all ok!!
    * It's chilly this evening... positive here = excuse for a long soak in the bath rather than doing the ironing :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of your evening!!

Sunshine, thank you for starting such a wonderful thread. I hope you don't mind me joining in.

I know this is a bit of a theme here, but I too suffer from depression and anxieties. I was "fine" but last year had a minor op which went wrong and nearly killed me, and I had to have a major op to sort it out.

This really effected me mentally as well as physically, and I had counselling and anti depressants etc. I am supposedly "ok" now but still have off days and something small and trivial will be a really big thing to me and can effect and upset me badly.

I also got made redundant in May, got another job which ended after 2 months and so I am job hunting again, and I returned this weekend from an already booked and paid for family holiday

I try and find a positive in every day and every situation and your thread has totally struck a chord with me as I do it anyway, but I have just never written it down and shared it.

Sorry for the TMI, I just wanted to set the scene, and let you know a bit about me.

Some positives from the weekend :-

    1) I returned from our holiday to a job rejection letter and didn't go to pieces and just thought "oh well, there's something better out there"

    2) My gorgeous cat is over the moon we are back and has been following me around and snuggling up at every opportunity.

    3) I have actually enjoyed doing holiday clothes washing and ironing. (I still have a load more to do as my kids mixed dirty clothes with clean clothes and the weather here is shocking, and I have limited indoor room to dry things, but I don't care.

    4) The accommodation we stayed in was horrendous and we complained twice whist there and were ignored, so I have written a complaint letter to post tomorrow and doing this didn't upset me as they need the feedback.

    5) To balance the negative letter I have also written a positive letter to an amazing restaurant we visited. The staff were amazing and deserve the thanks, so I am writing to their head office, and I got the name of the girl who served us so I could quote it as she was exceptional.

    6) Had in laws round and I cooked everyone a meal and we all had a lovely time.

    Will catch up tomorrow. Xxx

  • How awful BBTHREE :( Don't let anyone tell you when to be "okay". You faced a terrible trauma topped with job loss, each day that you find anything positive is wonderful. I hope this post helps you.

So here are mine for the weekend, I'm back to work today and it's raining so I'm probably going to read this a few times to keep my chin up :)

    1. Went to a posh wedding and wore a knee length dress so that my scars were visible (only second time they've been visible in public since I got them) and I was fine
    2. Went to the wedding alone, despite knowing nobody (massive thing for me), was "only" lost en route for 20-30 minutes and got myself home with a satnav that claimed that all suburbs of Birmingham are "location not known" :rotfl:
    3. Took kids to a party on Sunday and they had a fantastic time (despite DS2 bringing home two black eyes! ;))
    4. Spent Saturday afternoon watching the Narnia TV series from the late 80s with DD2 cuddled up in my bed.
    5. Didn't succumb to Sunday-itis (that feeling when you just can't sleep because you have to get up in the morning ;))
    6. Done nothing in particular but enjoyed every minute of just being with my family

    See you all later :)

Good Morning all! and welcome BBTHREE to this wonderful thread!

Not much to report from yesterday really but here it goes...

    * Looked into ways to reduce my extortionate grocery budget and looked at meal planning (DS has ADHD and has a tendancy to eat through every Tesco delivery within days) So feeling a little euphoric at the fact I feel a little more in control with this than I used to.

*DS was nicely chilled out for the entire day and wasn't so much of his usual whirlwind self so managed to get a slightly lazy day!

*I found a book I had been wanting for months on my Kindle for FREE! I absolutely love reading and can't sleep at night unless I have been reading (a book, a website, the ingredients list on a tin on soup...)

Feeling unsettled this morning but I'm not sure why...it is almost like I'm confused and not sure if I should be down or anxious...I am hoping it is just this grim weather we are having here at the moment...so clinging to recent positives like my life is depending on it.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and may your positives be plentiful

    Debt-free and Proud!
I've been back from my holiday for a few days and have just found this lovely thread. Do you mind if I join you?

A few things since I've been back:
    1) cats didn't take long to forgive us for their "holiday" at the cattery and are being VERY loving and cuddly!
    2) great to return home and reap the benefits of all the downstairs de-cluttering I did before we went away.
    3) returned clothes I didn't wear on holiday.
    4) lovely phone conversations with mum & dad.
    5) menu plan, shopping list and to do list done...

Feeling positive about today - no "back from holiday" blues (just feel blessed to have had one), and no "return to work blues" as I have another week off.

Have a good day, everyone :)

Good morning all and I hope everyone is well!

    Positives for yesterday...

*The house didn't leak during the torrential rain :j
*I felt good and my strange mood improved after doing my flying in the Kitchen and got through the whole list (Gotta love the FlyLady thread on the OS board) :D
*Had a second NSD in a row (with another planned for today) :A
*Everything prepped for DS going back to school today so no last minute panic! :)
