OK, I didn't realise they got the DOB. All the other stuff (bar password which everyone should have changed by now) you give away to strangers when you buy or sell something on eBay anyway.
Yeah, but that along with the DOB and passwords means they can do more and when you buy and sell you're agreeing to certain T&Cs and businesses should be following the data protection act and not sharing your information whereas the hackers don't care about any of that.
Most people buying and selling aren't out to take your details, but the hackers hacked the system to do just that. So you would assume that they wanted the details for a reason and, being a hacker, it's probably not to send thousands of people a lovely gift.0 -

It was probably actually just a 12 year old doing it just because he could
The hacker got details of employees logins and hacked the system that way. It sounds more thought out than a 12 year old just seeing if he can hack the system. They made a point of getting employee details and logging in so actually getting onto the system was hardly a challenge. Although I don't think it's clear how they got the details.
Also, it's no less worrying if a kid is hacking the system. If anything it's more worrying - they may think that no-one can do much to them even if caught so they may try and get away with more and if they can hack that well now then who knows what they'll manage to do when they're older.
Being a kid doesn't stop them selling the information or using it for other things either.0 -

I think you took my post far too seriously
I take it you don't recognise the image?!
Yeah well while you may not have been serious there will be someone out there reading this who will be thinking it was a kid and so it's all fine because what could a kid do. Hard to tell with text, especially when hacking is a serious topic lol.
Looks somewhat familar looking at it again. From a film, but I can't quite think what it's called or what the storyline is.0 -
Is it from Wargames? That film came out before I was born
I've seen odd parts, but never paid much attention and never watched the whole film.
