I just checked my two accounts, both of which are 10+ years old and both used a lot, and there is nothing on either. Surely it would be better for ebay to give everyone a small gift rather than annoy people by making it random!

I got £75. I'm guessing the more active you are on the site, the more you get. I buy a fair bit but also sell a bit.

That doesn't seem to be the case. A number of people have a voucher who haven't been on in years. I've been active on the site and have nothing.

Indeed. It seems they are aware of how annoyed many are and there has been talk of more vouchers being sent out, but I'm not sure if there is anything happening or not as we can only go by what others claim they've been told by ebay.

If people are getting these vouchers how are they being notified, is there a note in eBay messages?

Well they are certainly being notified by email, but I'm not sure if it goes to the ebay messages as well.

It should show up that you have a voucher to use when viewing an item (between price and postage. Same place as it shows the Nectar points) and the code will be under myebay (I think).

I spoke to someone on ebay livechat and asked why I did not have a voucher, this is the response I got:

Yes, we are aware that few of the members have received such vouchers as compensation. However, at this stage we are not aware of how these members are selected or wherther eBay is going to issue further vouchers.

I assure you that there is no criteria on selection of members for the vouchers. But what best I can do from side is that I can escalate your details to the concerned team.

They will look into this and might issue a voucher to your account as well. But I am afraid I am not able to commit the voucher for you. If eBay decides to issue a voucher on your account as well, you will automatically get an email about the same.

Got the impression lots of people were asking the same thing!!

They are, but each response is different. Some people getting vouchers, others being told it's random, some say they're looking into it or they're still sending out vouchers.

It does seem random and like there is no criteria though. That's what is annoying so many though - only ebay would randomly send some users vouchers as an apology to everyone.

I just spoke to live chat. The person I spoke to clearly didn't know English well, but they basically said that they believe I should get a voucher, to wait a couple of days and that due to so many accounts they are being sent out in batches.

So I guess I'll wait and see.
