What a load of ballocks. Here's my livechat with CS who initially cited a marketing campaign then did a quick backtrack and admitted the vouchers were for those inconvenienced....
    Me
    Hi,
    Them
Welcome to eBay Live Help, my name is ******. How may I be of assistance?
    me
I was wondering why I haven't received a voucher after the password issues? I use my account daily to buy and my other selling account weekly yet I've had nothing. Friends who use thier accounts sporadically have had £75!
    Me
    It seems very unfair
    them
I truly understand how you feel about this as your friends have received a voucher from eBay. The voucher that they have received is part of eBay’s promotional campaign and it’s not a compensation voucher.
    Me
So why have I not received one?
    them
Let me share with you that we always identify target group of eBay customers as it helps us to track the campaign needs in an effective manner. Therefore, the promotion campaign could be for the limited members only and are targeted based upon the campaigns needs and requirement.
    Me
So if I wasn't a regular user I'd be rewarded? And for being a regular user I then miss out on benefits. Sounds fair....
    me
So, for being a regular user and having another account since 1997 I get nothing then?
    Them
It's not like that, ******. We carry out such campaigns frequently and there is always a chance that you will be in one of the future groups for which we would target next campaign. If you will be part of a promotion, you will be receiving an email on your personal email account, My Messages and also the details will appear in your My eBay (Purchase History). Kindly ensure that your primary email address is updated. However, we can’t assure that since system will randomly target the eBay members based upon the promotion needs.
    Me
Yet the messages sent to my friends say 'sorry your data was compromised' and has nothing to do with marketing campaigns!
    Me
Their emails from you actually state that their vouchers (ranging from nectar points, £25 up to £75) are due to the password compromise.
    Me
So again, why is a casual user being compensated for this but not a regular one?
    me
"Thank you for your patience during the recent password reset issue. As a valued customer ......."
    Me
To quote the start of the email.
    Them
I truly understand how you feel about this, ******. Nonetheless, yes you are correct in saying that this promotional campaign is for those members that were affected by the recent password issue.
    Me
And I was affected by it, on both accounts yet still receive nothing
    Them
Still, please note that not all members can be given vouchers at the same time. Please keep your email address updated so that you may receive a voucher or any promotional goodwill gesture in the future.
    Me
Suggestion for those in marketing. If you are going to compensate people at least do it fairly and across the board because frankly this has annoyed me and has certainly made me question my loyalty towards ebay.
    Them
I sincerely understand how you feel about this ******. I will highlight your suggestion to our promotions team. Thanks for your patience and understanding on this matter.

It's annoyed me and it has made me question whether to throw in the towel with my selling account. Straw that broke the camels back kind of thing.

If you are going to compensate users do it fairly and across the board.

Agreed. I've read a few live chats that are now claiming it was a promotional email but this is the first I've seen where they've then said otherwise. Not sure any of the staff know what is going on.

Decided I am actually a little annoyed about this after two of my friends who barely use eBay got £75 vouchers.

Contacted live chat, same as above. Was told it was a promotional offer. No answer when I asked why then did it say it was due to the password fiasco. Was told my info would be passed to the relevant team whatever that is and they'd email me with an update.

Don't quite get why they didn't send a small voucher to everyone as a sorry. Even 50p instead of giving some £20 and other £75 and just peeing the rest off.

Will just use Amazon to buy instead for a few weeks until I get over myself haha.

The thing is if they are going to compensate then they should do it fairly and across the board. Why should someone who's account use is sporadic at best be rewarded with £75 yet a regular user get nothing? It's always going to cause ill feeling.

A few years ago the O2 mobile Network went down. I was with them at the time and I, along with millions of others were given £10 as a 'sorry'. Rather than dishing out £75 to the hallowed few eBay would have been so much better sending every user £5/£10. It would have gained them a lot of goodwill at a time when frankly they need it and it wouldn't have caused the amount of ill feeling this stunt has amongst it's members.

Nothing on any one of my accounts whether old or new, used or not used.

Thank you eBay for showing me how much you value me as a customer.

My OH also spoke to them on live chat and was told it was a promotional deal (believe it was word for word as above) he then mentioned the emails said it was compensation to which the ebay live chat person said that they could no longer discuss it with him...
