    Thanks for visiting OrangeFairy

I would love to take the credit for the daily amount Icc86 but I nicked it off someone else. It does help though. I wish I had done it sooner. If you have a rough idea of you debt free date and break it down the I think it stops all the little wasteful spends like a bar of chocolate or a magazine here and there. The small amounts seem nothing towards a big debt. I used to think what the difference, its not going to change much. Since starting this i can see the difference the its making. It's already knocked some days off the debt free date, about 15 I think which is crazy really. And its stopped me buying cake and stuff at work.

That said I think the odd treat occasionally is needed to keep motivated when dealing with debt but I have more than the odd treat and now I have lots of other pounds to lose too.;)

I need to update figures but that's a job for later as I need to get dressed, I'm running late.

Another day of no payment and the daily figures are creeping up. I'm so tempted to use some of my saving but I really need to get some emergency savings in place.

Payday next Friday and some big chunks coming out. I must be good.

I have been looking at the figures today at work, I did work too;), and I think I will miss my birthday deadline but be paid off before Christmas. Patience lady, patience.

Lots of evening report writing this weekend so some fun times with DS during the day with some decluttering and tidying thrown in.

    Hi Parsnip

I also am having a bit of an image crisis at the moment and feel frumpy - I have bought some slightly nicer clothes recently which make me feel a little nicer. I want to feel a little more feminine so am trying to loose weight so I can feel a little more confident again.

its the little things like I have started wearing earrings agains which I haven't done for years and sometimes wearing a little make up. Still a long way to go...my next challenge is a nice work wardrobe!

Well done for not using your savings!

Thank you for your comments OrangeFairy. I think these feelings are quite common on here. I have read similar things on so many diaries. After years of debt one bit of advice to anyone in debt is to try and keep yourself looking ok. I think that letting yourself go (which I did big style) doesn't help with the motivation. I'm not saying spends loads of money on clothes, etc but just try to keep looking ok and not walk around in ripped clothes (like I did) and care for yourself.

Oh and thank you for the comment about not using savings for debt repayment. I nearly cracked but won't now. I don't want to rely on credit cards for any emergencies.

I forgot to post yesterday but no payments again so just daily amount changes.

Sewing Bee - I love it, especially the bit where they repurpose an item.

Hair, I've had tragedies too  I asked someone the other day and think I may have found a hairdresser, but she can't fit me in before the special do, or before I start my new job  I think I'm going to have to have a trim elsewhere as an interim

I am the same about feeling dowdy. Yet I look at people of all kinds of shapes and they look great. I think it's because they look like they like themselves. You know, not self conscious or carrying the world on their shoulders. How to get there? I don't know, but I'm going to try to find out. Kondoing is brightening my world, maybe that could be a key?

I agree with orange fairy, bit of make up, earrings etc, doesn't have to be a huge effort I guess. I bought some St Tropez body tint the other day, defused my legs and put on a skirt. Felt fab and yet just the week before didn't think I ever would again. Yet today it was back to the frump look, need to keep working on it I guess :)

Keep going Parsniphead, you are going in the right direction. Well get there eventually xx

It's definitely about self confidence. Without being horrible there is someone who lives locally who is, how can I say, very scruffy and thinks she is gods gift to men. I have never seen such self confidence. I have to respect her belief in herself. I wish I had some.

I was looking online last night at leather bags on etsy and folksy. I didn't buy but wanted to. I think moved onto clothes and very nearly brought something until unrealised I could make it and I have a very similar pattern. I need to start focussing on myself and my talents and get myself sorted orninwill get nowhere. So I have decided it's spag bol for lunch........no roasts here today and some kondoing.

Later I need to take dad some flowers to his grave for father's day. Wish he was here.:( Oh well, better not get maudlin or I will get a ghostly lick up the @rse.

I'm feeling very frustrated with the daily figure going up but they are still less than when i started ue to the overpayments.

I agree with supersaver, sometimes all it takes is a little preening to brighten my mood too. Yesterday I put on a full face of makeup and experimented with some funky eye shadow - wasn't going anywhere in the evening but I felt chirpy all day lol.

I finally treated myself to some new foundation recently, it makesme feel better.

I always wear perfume. Feel naked without it.

  • Perfume was the one extravagance I couldn't cut out when I was debt clearing. I know the frumpy feeling, ably assisted by being significantly overweight. For the past year, I've been working on wearing even one piece of jewellery every day when working and even when not. I'm now at the stage where some days i actually think of what's most appropriate. Like others say, pick one thing. Work on it until it becomes a habit then move on.
