    So I presume the Asha 210 doesn't support Viber but then neither does the Nokia E71 does it, so same difference I guess ? I do like the look of both of these and the Nokia E71 certainly has good reviews on the net.

    Seriously, forget about it. You'll just be wasting your money.

    Once you have access to full function, you'll probably begin to use them.
    Nokia
    S40, S60, Symbian
    Supports free messaging service only.

    I hate using mobile phones, they are a necessary evil to me, so I don't think I will be wanting "access to full function".

    Watch out for the hard sell, and they'll try to lure you into a contract .. i've found the worst place for it is phones4u - Carphone warehouse are usually very friendly

    You best bet is write down a list of what you want and show them.. e.g.

    * Physical Keyboard
    * Has Wi-fi
    * Supports Viber and WhatsApp
    * Reasonably priced
    * Simple to use

    Make sure they know exactly what you want, and try to not let them distract you with other stuff.

    All very good advice, again thanks, I will be sure to go armed with what I want !

    I assure you that you will.

    I'm not much interested in these things. But I rarely communicate with friends who aren't on WhatsApp and the like these days.
    Being able to send and receive pictures and video effortlessly is much more convenient than using SMS. You can speak Walkie Talkie style via WhatsApp and make free calls via VIBER.
    Better to have the option to make free calls to and from Spain than not.
    It makes little sense to spend the same amount on money for a lesser ability.
    The mere fact that you are considering WhatsApp and VIBER is testament to your moving forward.

    Get a phone that allows you to use the full function of the application because it will save you money.

    I suggested an inexpensive Blackberry as they are very cheap to run.

    You can make and receive calls to and from Spain every day, send and receive messages, pictures and video and all for around £3 per month.

    You might not understand about what I'm writing right now, but I've made it as simple as possible for you to understand.
    In addition, the Nokia does not have 3G capability. Another limiting factor.
    I'm giving you the best advice. Whether you listen is up to you, but in the end I don't care what you do.

    I was asking for advice, not links to your ebay site which is what I got from your post and not a sales pitch, just wanted impartial advice from people who have owned the ones I was interested in.

    How rude and absolutely uncalled for.

    I can assure you it isn't his/her "ebay site".
    Ebay is now the only place where you can buy a good phone with physical QWERY keyboard for a reasonable price.

    You wanted to "swap to a smartphone" and the only phone you were interested in was Asha 210 that cannot be seriously called a 'smartphone' because it is 2g only that means that without WiFi it's data connection speed is extremely slow.

    Yeah, but you haven't been listening to the advice and rudely calling posters salesmen. It appears to me you have already made your mind up.

    Go buy your ancient e71 and let us know how your getting on after dismissing the advice you have been given. TBH I dont know why you posted if you weren't willing to listen.

    Excuse me, I clicked on an "active" word in his post and was immediately taken to a phone on eBay. If he was not the seller I apologise if he was using this just as an example. As for:

    "Ebay is now the only place where you can buy a good phone with physical QWERY keyboard for a reasonable price."

    These second hand phone shops are everywhere ! Plenty of second hand shops to purchase phones in the area where I live where I can return them if I am not happy, why should I risk buying one off eBay where I would pay postage of £4 or £5 to buy and if i were not happy another £4 or £5 to return? Also the prices in the eBay shops are not that cheap, or at least similar to second hand shop bought ones so unless a private sale on eBay, are approx. £50-£60 and I can get one for that in a local shop with no inconvenience to me.

    So I do appreciate constructive advice and if I do find a cheaper one on eBay that is cheaper and more available than if I bought in a shop, then obviously I will buy one there.

    So to sum up I did not mean to cause offence to anyone if indeed that is what I have done, just wanted advice. :o
