I might get a bit laughed at here (and I know it may not be feasible for those with families) but have any of you tried am-dram, tabletop roleplaying or LARP?
I can be quite an introverted person sometimes, but I like to roleplay because it means I can be somebody else for a few hours. Maybe not a persona I could keep up all the time, but it's a nice way to escape real life.
Go on, laugh - I know I'm a massive geek

We do have Netflix but my partner and I have a very different taste in films. I'm happy with classics such as Ace Ventura Pet Detective (:rotfl:) and Shawshank Redemption, where as he is more...avant garde??
?
So, you take turns. Last weekend DH watched something so boring I simply couldn't face it so I lay in his lap and he stroked my head. Good as way as any to spend 120 minutes.0 -
Op, I 'm glad you started this thread too. I'm going to read it again as I think some of the suggestions might help me ATM.0

I might check out that duolingo site recommended by Dractonis upthread. I love the idea of being able to speak another language (although, as yet, not sufficiently much to actually go to the bother of learning one).0

Hurrah, fellow RPG geek
I find it's an easy hobby to take up and leave as and when necessary. With the LARP side, it can keep me motivated as there's always something that needs doing - kit repairs etc
Mind you, I also coach a sports team as a hobby so maybe that's another reason to want to be someone else now and again

OP-so glad you started this thread. There are so many people out there who feel just like you.
Today is one of my lowest and just reading the thread is making me think about what I have to do.
Having lived with depression all my adult life, I have done most of what you have all mentioned, only it always comes back and I get to the point where I feel like I'm standing the edge of a deep dark hole (been there once) and it will take all my willpower to pull myself out. As much as we seek the help we need it is actually only us that pull ourselves out of the mood.
We must make the first step and this thread is just that."The best things in life are free"

Never done LARPing - I've always had the impression of it as being something where you needed to go with a bunch of your mates otherwise you'd end up standing on your own, and (having done that a lot in my wasted youth being the only person I knew who wanted to go and see a particular band etc) I didn't want to pollute my otherwise-positive RPG experiences. How did you first get into it?0

Nah we've had a few people in my faction come on their own and we're generally very welcoming. I'll PM you a bit more info later on if you like?

Hi KD,
Just checking in to see how you're doing? I'm starting yoga on Wednesday. The lady said it was a 2hr session, i grimaced. She advised I bring a cushion and a blanket - "that's MY kind of yoga!" I thought!

Frustrating, as I'm in a position to do almost anything I want to do...I just don't have the compassion to do it. I'm sure this is very frustrating for those who have lots of ideas but no way to facilitate them.
This sums my existence up, too. I am desperately unhappy with my life, I have no hobbies, no real friends.... My husband and son avidly follow their footballing hobby, spend whatever they want on what they want, while I stay home...and cry. My confidence is at an all time low and I rarely go out.
I am on anti-depressants and am having CBT but don't feel I am making any progress. My negative thoughts weren't helped by being in a car accident last December.
I have dreams of what I'd like to have in life for ME, but feeling so worthless, I shelve these hopes and yet say to my OH and son that if they want to do something/have something, then do/get it.0
