Can I join in please kat? I think I posted to late for last months challenge and iv fell off the wagon spending wise. Also have put on 4lb through eating to much junk and not going to the gym as I hurt my back so I'm really looking forward to this months challenge. Thanks xNSK April power shower #370

Can I join in too please? I have been lurking for a few months now and was quite excited when I realised a new month was starting!
So here are my pledges:
14 NSD (I fritter far too much away on rubbish every darn day)
20 binge free days (should help to not spend too!)
3 lots of extra exercise a week (cycling)
£160 groceries
£90 petrol
£170 to debt on payday (this should clear my final interest earning debt)
Onwards and upwards
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Thank you for keeping number 8 for me NSK. I am very grateful.
I am definitely in for June. I am off on holiday for the first two weeks but it is all fully budgetted for.
Seeing as we are in June already, I will ramble a wee bit. Sorry.
I am feeling quite proud today. I am taking OH to the Hard Rock Cafe for his birthday (he will be 30) and when I clicked on the website, they are doing a bogof offer on burgers and when I told OH, he then offered to have a burger instead of ribs so we can be good with our holiday budget. It was quite a wooooo!! moment for me.
Going to back and read the challenge again but it is looking pretty good already. I will hopefully have 10 spend-free days due to the holiday so will add another 8 I think. (I imagine that I may need extra money towards the end of the 14 days but will try not to).
Hugs to all the other overhaulers.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Okay I've subscribed so I can follow what you are all doing. I've already explained that I am not up to this challenge, but I will cheer you all on.
applemuncher asked if she had missed the boat on veg growing and no, you haven't at all. This is when things really get underway. Carrots, parsnips and beetroot can go straight into the ground. Lettuce, radish and spring onions will grow in a few weeks (10 days at the height of the season. Herbs do well nearly all year but best now and put some in a plant pot (or dig a clump up later on) to bring inside when winter draws in.
Anything with a short growing season is fine - peas and beans take about 10weeks. My dwarf beans were set off indoors a couple of weeks ago as it was still a bit cold outside but am going to set another lot off now and the larger ones can go outside (maybe just during the day for a week or so, then out into final growing position). Dwarf beans are fine mixed in with border flowers if you are short of room.
I also like to grow nasturtiums - they love nasty cheap soil and both the leaves and flowers are edible. The leaves are slightly peppery so perk up plain boring salad. They also attract caterpillars - some people don't like this but I look on it as being a butterfly nursery and I can spare a few nasturtiums more readily than my cabbages and broccoli.
Some gardening mags even do features suggesting what crops you can grow from September so plenty of time yet - it's just if you want to get as much as possible grown and extend the season for as long as possible (or sow everything from seed to keep costs down). It's fine to just do a bit and enjoy it - the obsession comes all by itself.
You can also buy plants -the specialist growers sell collections (expensive) but I go to the diy store and buy the sad ones from the reduced shelf - they may look half dead but given a long soak and a little care, most revive and it's so satisfying to rescue something and if they fail you have only lost 10p.
Okay I am going to sit in the stands now and watch you all squatting, lungeing, crunching etc - do my sitting down knee exercise and then stand doing my stork position for a bit.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
