Today I am grateful for the electric fan in my room at work, for lovely y9 kiddies keen to learn, for birdsong, for gorgeous fuchsia bushes, for stripey jamas trousers that cheer me up.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the kind thoughts and comments. I was very lucky as I managed to escape with just a couple of bruises and a small cut and graze on my elbow. It could have been worse.
Today has been a good day. I managed a SFD, took LTW and I clocked up an exercise session with a lovely walk around a lake :j :T
Slowly plugging away at my targets.
Hope everyone is enjoying the good weather.

Ok birthday milestone for me, not in years, in finance, yesterday was the last birthday I shall spend in consumer debt, thank goodness. There are more milestones I have realised and missed, it was my last Christmas and New year, last January (the longest month of the year when you have been paid a week early in December), and the last summer in consumer debt (at some point I will have a mortgage). I am getting there.
The last two days have been SFDs for me, for once I didn't feel the need to slack off the debt-busting and treat myself to a birthday present. I also think I can shave money of certain areas and make another payment to my Bcard at the end of the month, but we'll see.
I did some exercise yesterday. I started my T Anderson DVD, I think I may have bought the same workout twice but they have different covers doh! Anyway I did a bit and don't ache today and can still walk so all good.
So in order to keep on top of my food budget I have been trying to eat all my food... even when it has been out of date, so as not to have to throw it away and then spend to replace it. Things that I ate that were out of date ( by two days at the most) were, fruit loaf, coleslaw, bread rolls, pizza and two peppered steaks ( too expensive to throw away, I just grilled them to death). So I was feeling proud of myself until I watched 'Breadline kids' it was on Channel 4 earlier, it was heartbreaking.
The most shocking thing was the kids had a real understanding of finances, the economy, and the need for food banks, they made more sense than grown-ups I know. Apparently 170 doctors wrote to the Lancet ( I think) about the increasing food poverty and the long-term effects, some politicians didn't think it was an issue as the food bank itself perpetuated the problem(if it's there people will use it), but there weren't any real solutions offered.
It's amazing how child obesity is a problem that gets a lot of money given to it, but a skinny child isn't deemed and issue, no-one thinks that child is skinny, underweight or ill because of lack of food. A malnourished child is less noticeable than an obese one I guess.
I am now watching 'The 12 year old spendaholic' on channel 5 where parents with and even without money (but credit) spend thousands on their children, on designer clothes and toys. From one end of the spectrum to another, as the world turns.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
SFD - 4/12
Exercise - 8/25
Food - £58.37/£150
Petrol - £19.05/£40
Misc - £16.16/£150
Failed the SFD *again* yesterday by having popcorn at the cinema. I really need to start looking for multipacks of it in the pound shop again and just taking my own.
I'm aiming for today to be another SFD - I'm going to a comedy show tonight but as my other half can't make it and I've not asked for the friend who is coming in his place to pay for the ticket, he can buy the beer0 -

Lidl are currently selling popcorn makers for £11.99, We bought one yesterday and they make a huge bowl of popcorn from a couple of scoops of corn. Fat free too:). I can never make it properly in a pan.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Spent yesterday on 2 popcorn makers, one out of my Christmas pot and one out of my personal spends. Also had to buy tights for my 2nd interview but got some half price in Mr S and also bought sultanas to add to my cereal for breakfast. I am having trouble achieving a SFD even though most days my spends are low.
Food wise I have not eaten well this weekend and the f&v have fallen off. I wasn't great yesterday either but that was more due to having an interview in the afternoon,
The weather put paid to my big exercise session at the weekend but I have booked zumba tomorrow and will be swimming thursday and Friday.
I will need to spend today on 3 Fathers day cards and postage for 2 cards to Europe but that should be it.
DH is away for 2 nights again this week and the freezer is groaning with food. I think I might even have to turn on the garage freezer to store some of the items I will need to cook to avoid waste.

Hello June bugs,
Hope you're all well and having some sunshine.
Feeling a bit down today.Apologies for complaining again, I know I'm always going on about the builders, but we've got a really difficult situation and I don't really know what to do. Since the beginning of the work a few months ago, we have had problems with things being taken - drinks, food, our step-ladder, buckets - things of low value, but annoying - I've repeatedly spoken to the main contractor we're employing, but he either claims it's not happening, or acts as if I'm making a fuss about nothing, so I've tended to back down. OH bought a new electric shaver over the weekend - his old one died a couple of weeks ago and he had some money from his birthday so decided to get one. Yesterday morning, he left it on charge in our bathroom. In the evening, it had gone. We've spoken again to the main contractor - he said (without even asking anyone!) no one had seen it and he doesn't know what has happened. I can't accuse anyone - apparently he had a few different people in working on different things yesterday, there is absolutely no evidence any particular person has taken it, but it is gone. We can't afford to replace it, so that's it. I just feel sick at the thought someone who has been coming into my home would steal something, and I'm really worried other things might be taken - might already have been taken, there are piles of boxes with stuff from the lounge and upstairs and I wouldn't know if anything had gone from them at the moment. Don't really know what to do.
Anyway, gym this morning, so that was good. I am really in awe of everyone with their steps - apart from the gym, I'm quite sedentary when in work, so usually can never get more than about 6000 and that's a good day!
Moneymash, that programme sounds really interesting, will have to try to get it on catchup. The thing about obesity, too, is people can also be malnourished - a diet can be energy dense but lacking nutrients because people can't afford good food.
Take care everyone.

MagicCat - What an absolutely awful situation you are in. I would speak to the guy in charge again (he may be the thief remember) in a very no nonsense manner and I would tell him if I had no joy with him I would be taking it further i.e. Police. If the shaver at least was returned and no further items went missing I would leave it at that. Good Luck.
Today will be a SFD so I am going to get ahead of myself and add it to my sig now. I have already bagged an 8 mile bike ride and will be setting off for 45 minutes dog walking in a moment.
Yesterday I walked the dog and got soaked to the skin in a thunderstorm which lasted till 3pm. We had a lovely evening then. Sun is shining now but you just never know for how long.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Didn't get petrol in the end yesterday, a frustrating day to say the least. Bonnet clasp gone so unable to get into my car to check oil and water. Most unhelpful guy in Fords ever. So just hope I don't break down on my 3 day break, Gloucester and Stratford upon Avon I come.
Today bought hair dye, can't put it off any longer, made the discovery the Age Defy one made Nice and Easy actually lasts a lot longer colour wise.
Need to get petrol after work. No work until Monday woo hoo.
