June 2014 Grocery Challenge

I managed to pull it back for May by not shopping one week (freezer and store cupboard) and then both going away for separate weekends the following weekend so only buying milk after we got back. Then DH got paid on Friday so May ended a week before the calendar. Hardly economising really but it keeps me well inside my annual target!!
On to June and I have already done my biggest shop, with two massive packs of parmesan on offer. These are so good for baked dishes with cheese as we use only about half of the normal hunk of cheddar.
Hoping our costs will start to reduce now as broad beans are ready in veg patch and new potatoes are just about showing the buds of flowers. Spinach also ready to top up salad and if I can beat the birds/mice/ants to them there will be loads of strawberries by next week. I love it at this time of year.
Good luck everyone

Good Morning.
A spend of £55 yesterday to start my June month. I'm going to take out £300 for the rest of the month and will divide this amount into envelopes. I normally use my card at the till but I end up buying more than I need. So I'm reining my spending in and see if it works.
I've not told my OH as I want to try and end up with a bit of extra money at the end of the month to put in our savings as a surprise. There I've said it now so I've GOT to do it!!!!0/4500 -

Went to Tesco and Costco over the last few days. Total spend to date is £218.83 which includes a takeaway on Saturday as we were putting flat-packed furniture together and it took a-g-e-s.
Hoping to get to Aldi this week to stock up on dry cupboard goods.
Good luck everyone for June.

Hi everyone! Coxy, can you put me down for £180 again this month? It's a five week month for us so hope we manage this...
As always that's to do food, toiletries, cleaning stuff and cat stuff for me, my husband and the chubby ginger cat. Doesn't include eating out or alcohol though. Have really struggled the last few months even though we seem to be eating the same, feel like the price of food must have gone up in general.
Mealplan as follows:
S - ate out
M - beef goulash with dumplings and cabbage
T - roasted veg arrabiata pasta
W - tofu and veg noodles
Th - YS breaded cod with homemade chips & veg
F - chorizo and bean casserole with potatoes
Sa - squash and chickpea tagine with couscous
EDIT - forgot to say got a big mr t stock up delivery yesterday so at £78.41 / £180 now.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Hi all
So this was my lunch today:lunch by Dieting elsie, on Flickr
This was my dinner last night which was half a bag of leaves about to go off, some bendy cucumber and the last of some tomatoes, plus veggie burgers I got from a stall at Veg Fest:vegburgerssalad by Dieting elsie, on Flickr
And this is something that may be of interest to vegans who want something cheap... I found these Granovita pates in Aldidoodah today and they were 99p each. In H&B which is the only "mainstream" place I know of that you can get them, they are £1.69 or 2 for £3, so this is definitely a good deal!!granovita by Dieting elsie, on Flickr

Been AWOL as computer was out of action. Had a few spends - will update sig.
It definitely is a good idea to write a menu and a shopping list. I was in Aldo - Mum in there with child - no shopping list - working out a meal plan and supplies she needed to achieve it - as she shopped. A bit chaotic for me.
Made HM BPITH - 6 portions + 2 huge pies - 16 portions. The freezers are heaving.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Could you put me down for £290 please?
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children with 4 cats. We used to have takeaways three times a week and throw out tons of unbeaten food each week. Now we are reducing our spends and takeaways are less than once a month. Shopping we have reduced our bill from £100+ a week by menu planning and shopping from a list.DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debtnever attribute anything to malice which can be adequately explained by stupidity, [paranoia or ignorance] - ZTD&[cat]

Tiny first spend of the month today of £2.40 on milk for work, tinned tomatoes for chilli and some plasters - out for tea tomorrow from a different budget, if £5 Ald! voucher still in paper on Thursday will wait for that before I do any more shopping0
