10,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
Last night I had opened a tin of corned beef that was lurking in my fridge and had some with a huge salad for dinner.Tonight I had another third of the tin sliced with mashed potato's and steamed cabbage. The last bit I will have tomorrow with LO cabbage and LO mash all chucked together in the frying pan with some chopped onoin and sliced up mushrooms for a sort of corned beef /oniony/mushroomy,with a bit of cabbage thrown in hash.:) So my £2.00 tin of corned beef has streeetched to three meals over three nights :):):) Spuds I already had in the veg box and I also had half a cabbage that I bought reduced from the greengrocers for 40p.My local G'grocers sell cabbages cut in half if their big ones which is a boon for single people or pensioners like myself who live alone. So three fairly cheap midweek meals :):)

NSD for me this side of the weekend I have more than enough in the cupboards to keep me going.I actually have £1.48 left in my food purse for May to go into the Holiday tin on Sarurday night at the end of the month's budget

I dug some frozen chopped apple from the freezer today as well and had some mixed with plain basic yoghurt for pudding tonight as well.So well fed for very little today.

Been spending again today (this feels like confession :rotfl:). Bought some general supplies and bits for the 'big cook' from A1di (£14.89) and 5kg each of minced beef and chicken breasts from the butcher (£37.46). Bringing my total to £129.77/300.

Did a load of cooking this afternoon using 5lb of the mince padded out with some green lentils and made:
    4 family portions of chilli
    4 family portions of bolognese
3 single kid's portions of bolognese (for DD when she's at athletics)
    2 family sized shepherds pies.

Then made a fridge bottom risotto for tea! :A

Tomorrow I will be dealing with the chicken and NOT buying any more food! :D

    Thanks JIL.

JackieO - do you have Home Bargains near you - because large tins of good brand C beef are only £1.79 there. We make a large tin do two corned beef hash meals - so 4 portions. It is lovely and very filling! Fry some onions - mix with 1/4 tin cb and half tin baked beans per person and top with mash. Bake as cottage or shepherds pie until heated trhough. Yesterday used Maris Piper pots - best yet!!

    Just added June signature.

Must stop spending ahead as it is hard to manage. So this month have bought 2 more packs of coffee as on offer but out of this month's money. May have to rethink buying wine in advance and try Mr Al*i's!!!!

Hi GC'ers - back from our hols so it made more sense to jump straight into June (well that and I had no May budget left to do a post-holiday shop).

Joining early will make it a 5 week month plus we've got friends over this weekend and hosting BBQ next weekend so I think £200 is a realistic target to aim for. Must try to stick to it, finances have taken quite a hit this month.

And the cupboard/fridge restock so far is £40.56 - leaving £159.44/£200.

I have just done the first shop for at Mr T for June which came to £38.88 :s, this is slightly more than I was wanting to budget for as I am away for most of the week so just the OH to have food in really. But on the plus I did stock up on a few food items which will last a good couple of months and were on a good offer so hopefully it will all balance itself out. There were also a couple of impulse buys that maybe I shouldn't have brought in there too, but I will definitely enjoy them!

I'm so frustrated - because we didn't have our BBQ last Friday one shelf in our freezer is taken up with a box of burger patties, a box of frozen mini eclairs, a box of frozen mini custard slices and a box of pork and pineapple kebabs :/ I could do with that space to add some actual meal bits like chicken kievs, bacon, breaded/battered fish, pastry, meatballs...etc etc :( And not because I want to go food shopping but because it's hard to plan meals without seeing what we have in

I think it's going to have to change so that 1 shelf stays as is (box of chicken breasts, box of mince portions) then 1 shelf ready to go components like those above and 1 shelf of decent additions then the two draws will be veg and stuff only I eat/have for when bf is away and ice cream/treats
