EDIT: if you want to try Mcafee removal (I doubt that is your problem) do this (anti-virus will revert to Windows Defender).- Close all McAfee program windows.
- In the Start screen, type Programs and Features. (If it is not visible, click Settings in the list on the right.)
- Click Programs and Features in the list on the left.
- Select McAfee SecurityCenter.
- Click Uninstall and follow any on-screen prompts.
This malware is doing a threat scan at the moment0 -
Just a word to the wise. If this is a paid for version of McAfee installed by the supplier of your PC, e.g. Dell, then you need to be aware that 'Automatically Renew' will be set to ON using your credit card details in your McAfee account.
So, if you intend to ditch McAfee, make sure you visit your account on their website and turn Automatic Renewal to Off.
They haven t got my credit card details though0 -
Lets keep this simple,
Uninstall MacAfee and download avast (the free version) you don't need paid versions of anti virus software anymore - the free versions are fine they make their money from upselling.
Download malwarebytes (like the last post said) and run a full system scan.
There is probably nothing more you need to do and malwarebyte will solve the pop up problem (unless you are downloading anything from a site that uses pay per click).
No I'm not downloading pay per click don't even know what it is0 -

"pup" is a potentially UNwanted program. Just make sure you tick ALL of these manually before selecting "delete".0
