Thanks closed. I ve only just bought it and I'm still finding out where things are. It's already slow and says about a long running script. I can t even scroll up or down or get to download a driver for my printer. This is just a few problems I'm having so far

First check your laptop isn't in the middle of installing a set of updates.
    Press WINDOWS key + X
    Select Control Panel
    Select System and Security
Select Windows Update. What does it say?

Hi thanks for replying. It says you are set to automatically install updates 3 important and one optional

Install the 3 important updates (click on them and then monitor the updates on the same page) and then see what state the laptop is in.

Forget about the printer and mcafee for a minute. Where are all the advert popups? It sounds like you may have some malware. Run ONLY step 1) from here (text starts "Please download malwarebytes")

EDIT: if you want to try Mcafee removal (I doubt that is your problem) do this (anti-virus will revert to Windows Defender).
    1. Close all McAfee program windows.
    2. In the Start screen, type Programs and Features. (If it is not visible, click Settings in the list on the right.)
    3. Click Programs and Features in the list on the left.
    4. Select McAfee SecurityCenter.
    5. Click Uninstall and follow any on-screen prompts.
Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
