dozeyrozey said:Hi, Newbie here.
Just trying to make sense of the C1 form, for Confirmation of my husbands estate.
In his will he left everything to me and we had a survivorship clause in property deeds. The estate is below IT level
Can anyone tell me if Legitim is claimed by our kids the amount would be put in box 25 Net qualifying value of estateWhere the whole net estate for IHT passes to a surviving spouse then box 25 NQV would be zero. But if legitim was claimed, then (in this type of case) box 25 would equal the amount of legitim claimed.

Submitted my C1 to Edinburgh Sheriff court on 14 Jan - just had it returned in the post with the following comment:"The signing executors name differs from the C1 to the Will. This requires to be clarified within the declaration of the C1."
The Will states "Jane Doe" - as me
In the C1:
In the top box I had put "Mrs Jane Doe"
Then in box 10 I had put "Mrs Jane Middle Names Doe" (as it said to put my full name)
The in the Declaration - I had put "Mrs Jane Middle Names Doe"Do I need to explain that I have middle names? Should I have taken off the "Mrs" as it's not in the Will?
My middle names and my marital status are on my ID documents

Suggestion
In the top box of page 1 enter Mrs Jane Middle Names Doe - if Mrs is your preference.
Otherwise do not use Mrs.
In box 10 enter Jane Middle Names Doe
In the top box of page 2 enter Jane Middle Names Doe (plus address)
In para 2 of page 2 include. ‘In said will I am named as Jane Doe’
In para 3 of page 2 enter Jane Middle Names Doe1 -
We submitted our C1 to Paisley Sheriff Court today, the girl who took our form was so lovely, helpful and friendly. We had a couple of amendments to do and also a paragraph (which she gave us) to write on the Will to allow me to sign the Will. We will get our forms back beginning of next week.
Thank you so much for your help to everyone on this Forum and in particular Buddy9, your knowledge is so valuable.

This thread has been magnificent, and I have to applaud you all for making this process that little bit easier.
I have a couple of small issues i need advice with.
My dads will have named me as sole executor but with my Old Address. i moved out there 14 years ago.and my dad never updated his will.
On page 2 box 2 I had thought about putting this.
[Myname middle surname] formerly of [MyOLD ADDRESS as per will], Son and Executrix Nominate of the said deceased [father full name] who resided at [Father Address} conform to the will dated and signed 4th of May 2005 which is exhibited, Docquetted and signed as relative hereto.
If this is not correct how to I convey my previous address?
also what do I put in page 1 box 9? is it gross or net value?
same with the inventory page when I put in total for confirmation is it gross or net
EG Total Estate for Confirmation - £0 -
