So what if it's rude? It's offering a friend with kids some help for their benefit.

We're a nation of panderers for risk of upsetting anyone and everyone. Sometimes things need to be said and done for the greater good (in this case for the benefit of the children) even if it risks a bit of offense. If the mother is too stupid to accept help where she needs it then it's only the innocent that are going to suffer.

I'm sure she'd be less offended from the offer of support and help from a genuinely concerned friend than a knock at the door from social services ;)

    I agree with you.

From my point of you when I was typing it, I didn't think it was rude at all.
Noticing your friend is appears to be struggling with things that take up time, like washing and food shopping, so offering to help to give her a break from the kids so she can get her house sorted and do a food shop is being a caring friend to me.

However, as normal everyone is entitled to their opinion, so we will just have to agree to disagree.
I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
