Good Lord that was an experience!
My final time was 2:16, about 6.5 minutes slower than my first half marathon in June. Considering the relative amounts of training for both races, I think that this was a pretty fair outcome :T
Mile 8 onwards was tough, not ashamed to admit that there was a bit of walking/jogging fartlek going on there (that's an exercise joke, my tum's fine)
There was a comedy moment (that I'm only moderately ashamed of) when I was overtaken by two work colleagues in literally the home straight. Unwilling to lose to two vain weightlifter types (think TOWIE), I pulled a sprint out of the bag to beat them, possibly the only one of the race :rotfl:
I wasn't very keen on the mahoosive crowds, although the musical accompaniment was good, who knew Glasgow had so many steel bands?
Think I'll be back again, but I need to work on my aerobic capacity (is that the phrase?) The plan for this winter is to drop the distance running, maybe join a cheap gym for a few months and lose a little weight.
One thing that Glasgow really needs to work on is the public transport for events like this. We basically had to walk 2/3 of the way back, not ideal after 13 miles. It shouldn't be as hard as they manage to make it to have a few buses going to the various compass points of the city.
Currently zonked on the couch with a glass of red wine and a takeaway to come, no guilt.
Spare a thought for me tomorrow, I'll be walking like a geriatric.0 -
Just wink and tell people Mrs E was pretty feisty last night.0

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
