Are you only drinking fluids on your two days of fasting or are you having a small meal as well?

Excuse the slow reply SD. I'm having 600 calories split between two meals, I think I'd probably faint with no solid food

May I take a moment to vent? :o
    • Work has been hectic, managed to muddle through a messy situation that is now resolved, but has left me drained. I was too tired to make dinner yesterday, can't remember the last time that happened
    • Haven't found time to run
    • Diet has been pants, delaying 5:2 for a fortnight until my half marathon is over
    • Made a matched betting mistake, lost c. £300, got to within £100 of rectifying it and then... made another one! This will take weeks to resolve, quite grumpy

So, general lack of control, not something I like.

Moving on to the positives, Mrs E and I are having a lot of QT, I'll be cooking an anniversary dinner of braised Chinese pork, stirfry shiitake mushrooms, bak choi, onions for dinner tonight. We're doing some cat sitting this weekend, I find cats very relaxing to be around :)

Possibly inspired by catching up with DDFWs diary today I have been using the first of my extra days off to go on a cleaning spree. Apparently my body thinks that it's time for spring cleaning :rotfl:
    • Defrosted and cleaned the freezer after we accidentally left it open :o
    • Made HM chicken stock with star anise and cascabel chillies to braise the pork tonight
    • Moved some meat, fish and cheese into the fridge
    • Washed the curtains for our spare room (apparently washing curtains is a thing that you can do)
    • Re-hung a blind that had been lying around for ages after we had to get rid of a wasps nest
    • Washed the car, got petrol and picked up some white vinegar for cleaning at @sda

Currently chilling out placing a few small matched bets to work towards getting back to a neutral position and will go pick up Mrs E from work in an hour or so.

    Happy Friday all

Every time you post what you have or will be cooking my mouth waters. I can almost taste it through the screen.

Harsh loss on the matched betting, fingers crossed, you will recoup that soon.

Well done on the spring cleaning, very therapeutic apparently

Hope you and Mrs Ed have a good weekend

I know that modesty is cool and all, but that pork was delicious! Very sweet, fell apart in the mouth and got coated in the rice grains with a bit of mushroomy aftertaste :)

    Another busy day today:
    • Placed some more matched bets
    • Went grocery shopping
    • Got replacement lightbulbs and a toilet roll holder (crap job, but somebody's got to do it)
    • Replaced all our dud lightulbs
    • Polished the car
    • Just about to make dinner - grilled salmon with fennel seeds and seaweed, HM mango salsa and rice
    • Rebuilt the freezer

Feeling much cheerier than I was yesterday, had one of those 'will they, won't they?' conversations with Mrs E and came to the amazing conclusion that not moving house in the near future is probably a good idea. I look forward to having exactly the same chat in 3 months time :rotfl:

Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend?

With the exception of yesterday's chillies, and today's seaweed, everything came from L1dl. All the meat and fish was reduced, I'm a scaffy gourmet :)

    I sound like a L1dl advert :o
  • Glad to hear that you are back on track :) and the Anniversary meal sounds lovely. In terms of the matched betting, I am sure that it won't take you long to recover your losses.

Hello ed! I'm terrible at finding new threads :o I think you started this one just after I left earlier this year, when I got lurgified. Subscribing now, and fetching a cuppa so I can start to read through

  • Happy Anniversary.

As for matched betting, a man who never makes a mistakenever makes anything.

Just ordered a new oven

The new one had been crapping out for months, and I was starting to wonder whether or not it was actually safe any more. Still, that's £210 gone and a selection of messy jobs for me this afternoon (removing the old plug and flex, taking the oven out of its housing).

On the plus side, it will be amazing to have an oven that can actually bake bread, pizzas and roast meat to the mythical temperatures of 190 degrees celsius and up :rotfl:

Also pleased that @o are able to deliver tomorrow, as it's Sunday today and a local holiday tomorrow.
