    Afternoon Tributes...

Forgive my late-in-the-day check in but I was loaded down with taskings from people at work yesterday that needed to get sorted out today AND my finance coursework was handed in last night. Then I watched Harry Pothead and had the weirdest nights sleep ever...

Anyway.... declaring an SFD even if the day is not out. Same goes for yesterday and I think the day before that. Should probably get another three this weekend marking 6 in a row. I know some of you have beat me on that front but it might be run right through until next Friday which is payday...

Am working Sunday and Monday on overtime. (16 hours double time) but I really hope some of you will be having fun for me..............please...

Other than that life will be simple this weekend unless my friends baby decides to arrive. They have a boy. Now I want a girl.. :rotfl:

    Off to read posts.

Argh another spend day! My walking pushchair had a puncture, not only that a seriously perished tyre and inner tube! I also found that the front wheel had perished too so it cost me £40 for two new tyres on my blooming pushchair! Gutted! After my car costing me a fortune the other day my poor credit card has taken a bashing! I've paid most of it to be fair but not all of it, feel a bit of a fraud since I was debt free and only got this card for emergencies but I seem to have had a lot!

    Slinks in, head hanging,

Sorry folks...not been posting of late. I kind of lost my mojo.

Work has been up and down and the house moving thing has been mega stressful. Still no move date in sight or any definite anythings.

That has been getting me down, really down.

I have been reading here and there but again, I haven't even had the umph to read on here.

Don't know, just not quite right this month.

Just totted up and today is SFD 13, so that's quite good. Not so good is that I am some money adrift and I don't know why. It's bugging me, and annoying me because I thought I had cleared all my receipts, so threw them away, evidently not!

Got lots of food in, trouble is, I am not eating wheat at the moment, and most of the food is wheat related. Got some medical stuff going on so trying to eliminate.

Apologies for not checking in every day, I will try and do better, promise

Mum was feeling down today so treated her to lunch out which obviously wasn't budgeted for, but cheered her up no end. £21 over spent but worth it.

Went for a massive walk this afternoon with sister and nephew, walked lunch off but now super tired. Next month I'm really going to focus on weight loss, aiming for half a stone. I have budgeted really tight this month in order to save money and pay off my september holiday and I'm proud with my efforts so far.

I'm also listing quite a few things on ebay this weekend so will hope to recoup the £20 spend today.

    Other than that it's now time for a G & T so I'm off x

Spent money today. A combination of circumstances meant that I walked round for far too long and had to get a taxi from my old house to my mum's (could not stand on my injured leg) and then she offered to pay for a taxi home. Not achieved much as have been absolutely exhausted for most of the day, one brief spurt of energy. The good news is that the 2 taxis cost me a grand total of 2 pence (cadged 96p towards bus fare from DS2 - had 66p in my purse, picked up 2p roadkill and mum gave me a fiver). Also borrowed DS2's copy of the Hunger Games and took one of his toilet rolls yesterday (have bought / given him hundreds over the years).

DS3's gf could lose any rights to benefits for up to 6 months. There is a lot of evidence that benefits staff are being given targets for sanctioning people and she is an easy target, her parents would feed her, she would just have absolutely no money of her own.

She lives in a rural area and it took her 2 years to get this job (supposed to be full-time). Whilst unemployed she was forced onto one of the 'work for your benefits' schemes - doing unpaid work for private companies under the guise of making people more employable by providing 'real work experience'. The cost of travel and lunch money virtually wiped out her benefits and at one point she was threatened with losing her benefits if she did not attend every day and also if she did not sign on as being available for work on her regular day, several miles away - thankfully common sense prevailed. At least the old 'scheme' jobs did work that was for the benefit of the community, not providing unpaid labour for private companies.

She might have a case for 'constructive dismissal' - ie the company behaved in such a way as to force her to leave (I did this many years ago and kept my benefits by writing a 2 page letter outlining the conditions at the place I was working - you really haven't lived until you have worked in a factory that has a 'suicide bench'), but it takes energy to fight and at the moment her confidence is back at rock bottom.

I think my advice to go off sick was the best she could do at the moment - it gives her a breathing space and the SSP will be more than the £24 wage she would have received next week for this weeks 4 hours. just remember for every 'benefits street' scenario there are hundreds of young people in this situation. The companies treat them like this because they can, for each one who leaves there are dozens more to take their places.

Now we need to try to work out how she could get through the next year and then persuade her to apply for university. Her parents income is such that they would have had to pay, which they weren't willing to do - in my opinion they were using her as a full-time housekeeper and nanny for 3 siblings including one who is disabled and has extremely challenging behaviour. Next year, at 25, she can be assessed independently from her parents. Just have to start giving her back some confidence.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Hullo peeps!

This lil tortie has been in hibernation since the Mad March challenge! Thought I'd pop my head out to say hi and let you know Ive been keeping tabs and reading about your escapades daily :D Congrats to those of you getting married and well done to those saving up or chipping away at their debts! :T

Time away from these challenges has been lethal and since becoming debt free, I have been rather naughty with my 0% credit card :o The sole reason for getting the credit card was to spread the cost of dental treatment over 18 months, however, the irony is that I still havent had me choppers done but have acquired a new electric bike, tv, digital radio and rug! I am definitely an emotional spender when down in the dumps and this has to stop :(. I have some money saved which could clear the cc damage but Im reluctant to do so while interest is 0%.

Anyway, keep going folks and stay strong!

    Love and bestest wishes

    Pheonix xx

Hi Phoenix! Oh my, I could have written that! I've been exactly the same with my card, I guess the difference is now we are more in control than we wore before.

MrsGSR - £40 on your pushchair:eek:. Was it a very expensive one when you bought it?

Shyspender - hope you get some things sorted soon. Me and DH found red wine very helpful when we were going through a stressful house move.

DH has taken the car for its repair this morning so today will involve spending money but it is all budgeted for. I'm not sure of the plans for the rest of the day but hopefully we won't be spending much if anything else.

No, it was £40 second hand  it's an all terrain one hence the cost. Granted I could have got my DH or brother to fix it and saved money on labour but I didn't think I would have it done for Monday as we are going to a day festival so will need it in the mud!
It was possibly my best baby buy so it was worth getting it fixed.
