Counting today as a SFD, though technically I spent 73p, since its such a tiny amount and I got so much stuff for nothing. Went to JLs for my monthly cake and coffee, and went to Boots to spend my survey voucher (hence the 73p spend, had to go slightly over the voucher value). Was very tempted to stop at the supermarket on the way home since the fridge is nigh on empty despite doing a big shop on Sunday, but resisted. Trying to see if I can stretch to the weekend without going, as I'm away all weekend so only need to create two dinners from the cupboard, going to bake some bread to do lunches.New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Morning folks
A very good day yesterday as not only did I get another SFD and my exercise done, but I managed to get some freebies at workThey had laid on lunch for some people and there was extra so I came out with a sandwich, three cereal bars (one now eaten!), three apples and five bottles of water
That's now my fruit for work for the rest of the week sorted and spare bottles of water in the fridge for cinema trips :j
Today will be another SFD which takes me to ten for the month. I'm quite happy with this to be honest and my budgets are generally looking ok.0 -
Morning Tributes...
Yesterday ended up being a spend day as I'd run out of fresh stuff already... and... confession time... I spent £50!!! I was going to knock it off my nectar card - but really wantd to save that for later in the year... so it is with great shame i confess my £80 limit was blown.
I'm looking through the receipt and it's chicken, soya burgers, cottage cheese, quark - stuff like that that quickly bumps up the bill. Darn it. Does that mean my Hunger Games cannon has sounded?!?!lol
Perhaps £80 is too tight a target for me. Last month was £160 which is quite a drop. I'm sure I did it before - but maybe when I wasn't gymming it and trying to meet a high protein count. Meh!!! Still within my overall budget - but still cranky haha!!!
Re. becoming debt free... I think a holiday sounds nice - though it feels so indulgent... Then again - isn't that the point haha! Maybe have Nov/Dec as a break and start in 2015 afresh with new goals...

Morning,
Spendy day as predicted yesterday, needed nappies from hey diddle lidl and bought some more lunchbox items that were on offer where I work.
Also got some more hay fever tablets (the cheap ones!) rather exciting spending I think you'll agree!
Today and tomorrow are planned NSD so that will bring me to 10, esp as the weekend is a spendy one!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Hello Tributes,
Hope you are all OK. Nearly half way through the month - May seems to be going past both too quickly (don't seem to have got a lot done) and too slowly (a looooong time til payday).
SiannieLaz - So impressed you are doing the insanity DVD, have seen the adverts and I couldn't do most of the moves once, let alone repeatedly! Hugs for feeling low, I know what you mean about the little things. You will get there though and it will be worth it.
Kenyakate - allotment in the sun sounds lovely!
CEW - well done on resisting lunch spend, it's so hard sometimes! I find it really helpful to hear things like this from people - I probably sound a bit crazy, but when my willpower is really low I find it helps to think "so and so from the challenge can do this, I must be able to as well" and I find I can (obviously, this does not apply to the insanity workout...)
moomin Congrats for freebies!
abundant - 80 is a big drop at once - maybe taking it down slowly and aiming for less than last month would be better? I
Had another NSD yesterday, which is good, but otherwise things are not going so well - builders have finished stripping off tiles in what was a downstairs shower, will now be part of the kitchen, and it turns out the walls underneath are so damaged they will need re-boarding and plastering, total cost 432. And (TMI alert too) bad time of the month in a way that hasn't been so bad for months, so generally feeling like s*** and that every time I take a little step forward, some giant force pushes me half a mile back.

Sorry, have realised my goals at the beginning of May were to stop feeling sorry for myself - and that last bit was very self pitying. So reasons to be grateful:
1. Hunger games challenge is making me spend less, so I am in a better position to deal with unexpected costs.
2. No chocolate since Monday, despite feeling rough
3. Sister has just got a job she went for, which will mean much less of a commute for her, which is fab.Mortgage December 2023: TBC

SiannieLaz - I feel like you sometimes, I feel deprived at times and that I am always telling the kids we can't afford things but I need to go through this and come out the other side debt free to remind me why I will NEVER, EVER get in debt again.
Well done to those of you doing the Insanity workouts, I would like to try but can't afford the DVD's, they do the classes at some gyms but not really close enough to go to plus they are £5/class.
I have been to the gym this morning for a free trial, I was there about an hour being shown round and then left to have a go myself, it's £19.95/month for off peak membership and I would probably do 3 sessions a week plus all the other stuff I do. I am very tempted particularly as sometimes I plan a run or a bike ride and the rain is bouncing off the floor it is just too bad to do it, I like running in the rain but not torrential, so I would have another option as I have set myself this year and this year only to get to my target weight. Will give it some serious thought today.
Today will be a SFD.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hugs for Magicat. Another SFD.
Checking in early as the laptop fell off the bed last night as I was putting things away - was holding a box of fabric and 2 trays of embroidery threads so couldn't save it. Power cable a bit dented so if I disappear for a few days I am with you in spirit. It's already said 3 things are wrong with it this morning but then does the thing it has been asked to do - these things are worse than children.
I think a little moan was in order Magicat, when life throws !!!! at you it all comes at once, then you relax and more comes. I feel I have been moaning with far less justification. meant not to say much and then it all spills out when you get on here - makes you feel better and then we just get on with it. Together we will all come through this (fingers crossed behind her back) even if we can't quite see how at the moment. Just have to try to do the things which are in front of us and then tackle the next hurdle. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

This made me laugh. No not yet - just maybe pace yourself and allocate however much you think you could get away on per week. I think having week numero uno at Mumsy's helped me a lot otherwise my £90 budget might not have made it....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
