    Evening All,

Glad you're feeling better MagicCat, I used to suffer with migranes and they are awful beyond belief :(

NSK - love the complaint & response, it hardly seems like a complaint they way you wrote it!

Fmess - I budget on a weekly basis, and it works much better for me. I have a managed bank account so all my bills are budgeted for me by my bank. I am able to look at a 3 month forecast of how much money I am actually going to have access to. As I get my working tax credits on a Thursday which is really all the cash I have access to, my week runs from Thursday to Thursday. I set aside £30 a week for personal spends and groceries, then add on petrol, childminder, gas and electric on the weeks when I can afford to pay them. This week I've spent my groceries money on cat food, milk and bread so I know I've got nothing left until Thursday when I start the new week. I find it much less daunting budgeting for 7 days rather than the full month.

SFD for me today, easy one as was at work. I even managed to drag myself out of bed at 5am and did a workout! I did fall asleep on the sofa immediately DD went to bed tho! So that's 2 down, 18 to go.

Totals as I'm now going straight to bed!
    SFD - 7/15
    Groceries - £39.60/£80
    Misc - £11.91/£40
    Petrol - £15/£15
    Exercise - 2/20
    Daily check in - 11/31

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday xxx

    Hi fellow Tributes,

Spend day today as OH wanted to cook so he went to get some meat. At least he got the 3 for £10 so we have lots to freeze as well but he did forget to use his Nectar card

LTW today so still on target with that.

NSK love the letter to Tesco and the reply was great too. I always find a light hearted and friendly complaint gets better results.

Not much more to report so will sign off for an early night and see you all tomorrow.

    Chez x

Loving that letter + reply kat!

Today I am grateful for fudge, for the sound of rain splattering down, for bumping into a neighbour who's always cheerful, for peace and quiet, and for a great phone call with my big sis.

Gonna re-read the first post tomorrow, to check I'm still heading the right way. Am sorely tempted to pay about £50 off the mortgage to get it below 72k...

NSK , I love the Tesco letter!

Broke the rules today and bought a coffee whilst out. So no SFD and feeling rather guilty about that waste of money.

Flat inspection is this week so been on my hands and knees scrubbing floors - so glad these things only come round 3 times a year. Also added motivation to save for a house of my own as soon as possible!

Love the email and their response NSK, what are you going to spend your £5 on?! I love free money :)

siannielaz I think in might swap to a weekly budget as I always spend lots in the first few weeks and then struggle in the second half of the month. Thank you for your advice.

SFD number 6 today so I'm exactly on target :)

Not much else to report although I'm quite proud I made a vegetable dish to have for lunch tomorrow and Wednesday as I ran out of salad and didn't want to lose the SFDs :)

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! This is how it goes downhill! No post again yesterday, slippery slope...

Well, yesterday and today were SFDs (10/15?), although the social budget is getting a bit strained, lots of staying in/near camberley for various events. Which reminds me, need to look for one night in July. Think I need to get ebaying to fund all this excitement!

I think I'm on 10/31 daily posts

  • Hi all....Magiccat, I too hope your feeling better soon (and the same to all other tributes who are sick or weary). Thanks so much for the pointer to Lady V - I don't need anything at the moment, but have bookmarked the dresses for another time. I loved the write up about their business principles too :)

And NSK - your guacamoany made me laugh! Today I am very grateful for all the virtual cheering on and cheeriness here, for a friend who has listened and helped me face some fears, for a job which lets me touch others lives when they need help, and for my DD, who is beautiful even in her teenage disdain for me!

Very excited to have sold on some furniture for more than I bought it for, about 8 years ago! I never got around to doing it up, and it doesn't fit anywhere in this house. Made back almost half the amount of the much desired piece to replace it, and the bnb guest tonight (unexpected short notice stay) has bought in the rest! So I'm even, but with furniture that fits (and a tidy house!).

Not a NSD today as I needed some basic toiletries and some butter for the guest. Turns out he's not a big eater and doesn't want toast in the morning, so I took him at his word, and didn't bake any bread tonight. But we have butter ready for the next person, anyway!

nighty night. Really hoping for a NSD tomorrow x

    Daily check-ins 13/31
    SFDs 9/15
    LTWs 9/19
    Exercise days 10/20
    ISA savings £93.95/£50 :j
    Food: £56.15/£150
    Birthday fund: £20/£40 saved
    Car fund: £50/£100 saved
    Entertainment: £47.95/£120 :o
    Petrol: £25/£80
    Misc spends: £23.45/£100

SFD total remains the same as I ended up buying a beer last night while I was at the cinema with my friend. Still, that's three cinema trips in the last week and only one spend, so I think I can hold my MSE head up a little :D
