To keep on pursuing those pesky pennies, I have trimmed dd's hair today. She's not yet visited a proper hairdresser in all her 6 years! So I have also paid over £10 to the mortgage, for not paying a professional. And £10 meant I didn't then have to do a TT to make a round number!
I've also mentioned to dh about him going through his cds and dvds and pc games... If he gives me a pile, I have offered to check them out on MM. Every penny counts! We do have a lot - in my opinion - of old gadgets and he seems to have started looking up how much we could get for them. It may not be much, but it will all add up. Not sure what has prompted this reformed character currently upstairs...!
dolly, I've never had a problem freezing ham. It may not then be quite the same as non-frozen ham, but it's good enough for us. And dh tends to use it more than me, and he's not complained...yet!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I freeze corned beef (not a fan of ham) and salami. I open the pack and leave enough for one portion in and then lay clingflim over it, put another slice back in and lay clingflim the other way and repeat. I have found it tastes exactly the same and means I can pick up ys packs. I only eat sandwiches when out of the office so my problem is the bread. I keep it in the freezer and don't like it much defrosted as I find it tastes stale (I only normally use bread for toast so it's fine!):j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

traveller, I've not seen or read the hunger games, so have absolutly NO idea what it's all about! But if kat calls me a tribute, I'm happy with that!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Another SFD as I am not going anywhere. Not added up what I spent at the sm. No bargain veg but lots of cooked meat to go with my 10p loaf so need to make up a load of sandwiches and more freezer tetris to accommodate them. Bought a bit towards mum's birthday present from the reduced shelf (voucher equivalent has already been put in a Christmas fund so need to deduct from shopping).
dolly84 - thanks for the link but they are not quite what I need - the ones closest to it are coming in at £80 - 120 in the sale. I am spoiled as the last coat and waterproof trousers I had were free so when you look at prices . Plenty of time to look as I can't even walk to the park yet.
Need to get to walking inside the park (into the woods), then back to the regular 3-4 mile around the outside of the park, then start building up to being comfortable doing 10 miles, several days a week, then look for some hills (we only have pit-rucks and they've mostly been flattened out and landscaped).
applemuncher when I first took DS2 to have his hair cut, he cried - no noise just huge silent tears running slowly down his face. The girl doing it was so upset she refused to cut any more (she had only just started) so for a few years I did it when he was asleep, sitting beside his bed, snipping away the untidy bits, then waiting till he turned onto his other side so he wasn't lop-sided.
No motivation today. Was in pain when I woke up but it has receded now (lovely painkillers). Part of me is thinking listen to your body, 2-3 tough days with some painful bits rest today. The other half is saying just being lazy, lots of things you could be doing.
Want the green bin full of weeds before Tuesday and was planning to do weeding sitting down - think it's the weather putting me off, so damp and grey. Will put washing machine on, make sandwiches and do leg exercises then rest or do more if feeling energised. Duvet's magnetic pull is only protecting me from all the nasty things lurking in the shed - survival instinct says curl up small and hide. (sorry Kat)My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

in other exciting news, finally got round to looking up details about the delayed flight comp. a flight i took 4 years ago was delayed by 4hr 50 min and was the airlines fault. have just drafted the letter on behalf of me and my friends and asked them for 400 euros each in comp. fingers crossed we get it as that will pay for our next holiday!!!!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Good Evening fellow Tributes
Apolgies for being MIA but the OH came up for the weekend. We were meant to be meeting half way but things got changed around and we got two nights together instead of just one.
We didn't do much other than spend time with each other. We went for a wander to one of the local towns and got some lunch and went to a nice local beauty spot and had a picnic in the back of the car. I know, I know, not very MSE but more MSE than having a meal out and it wasn't a planned thing, we just wanted to get out for a little while.
Today was birdesmaid shopping with my bestie and the other bridesmaids. They made me try on even more dresses!!!!!
We did find shoes that we all liked and have an idea of accessories. It was a fun day, not SFD though due to drinks and lunch, but I knew it wasn't going to be a SFD.
SFD total is now 6 and should get a little run in now for a few days.Feb NST #4

Evening All,
spendy day for me today. Went to W*itrose as they were doing cat food cheapest. As my spend was over £10, I picked up a loyalty card and got a sunday paper for free, first time I've had one for months! Was lovely sitting down to read it once DD went to bed.
Cooked a fish pie today, batch of cookies in the oven and hoping to do some cheese scones, but have a huge pile of ironing to do. I also need to get those accounts finished, I get the distinct impression that I won't be needed to do them for much longer
Have just realised that if I'm going to hit my exercise target, then I need to do something every day for the rest of the month, starting today! I've got a circuit training app on my phone, so I'm going to do one of them as soon as I finish this.
Totals so far:
SFD - 6/15
Groceries - £39.60/£80
Misc - £11.91/£40
Petrol - £0/£15
Exercise - 0/20
Daily check in - 11/31

Hi all,
Yesterday was a spendy day as took Dad and his wife out for lunch for his 75th birthday. He actually asked if we wanted help to pay the bill  Bless him.
Today was also a spend day as we had to get some dog food and milk. Don't think we need much to get us through the month so hope to be well under budget in May although we may need some chicken food.
My current scores are:
Groceries - £25.09/£150 :j :j
Social / Birthdays - £107.32/£150 still got my nieces twins 1st birthday but should come in on budget or thereabouts.
Fuel - £30.02/£100 have a couple of long journeys still but hope to be under budget.
Misc - £26.09/£0 need to look at this for next month. I really should have budgeted for my regular prescription but completely forgot about it and ended up needing 3 of the damn things on Saturday  but luckily one item was cheaper over the counter :money:
Impulse - £7.45/£0 must stop buying the odd bars of chocolate
SFD - 5/15 this is still possible as I need to rack up 5 in each 10 day period so I WILL make this target
LTW - 4/19 doing well on this one and so far have also managed to NOT buy any drinks in work either :j
I really need to work on 2 areas in my spends which are the Misc and Impulse areas. The misc is less of a problem but it has been really helpful to see what I have forgotten to budget for so hopefully this will help in future months. The impulse section is a problem. I really don't need all of the little treats I'm picking up. Half of my spend has been on treats and £4 was on lottery tickets. Neither of these were needed
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Luckily the weather has been relatively good here so all of the dogs have been out in the garden. Only another week or so and we can get back to normal, or what passes for normal, in our house. I have to say though that the 2 extra dogs really have not been a problem except maybe at feeding time. I now understand the saying feeding time at the zoo :rotfl:
Have a good week Tributes.

Today I am grateful for finding presents for my easy-to-buy-for-friend and my tricky-to-buy-for-friend and dd's friend (presents total still v low), for dd being lovely, for having so much stuff I can fill another bag for the charity shop, for dh cooking tea, for dd sitting and letting me cut ALL her hair this time!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
